Archie Sonic Character Files: Wendy Naugus and the Witchcarters

Now that it's October, it's time for the 1st of 2 Halloween themed episodes I have planned for ASCF. Starting off with the comics version of the main villains from Tails Sky Patrol

They should revitalize the dual adventures of Tails' encounters with Kukku and the Witchcarts and the 3rd becomes a trilogy where Tails lead his own team.

I hope you enjoyed the IDW Tails Adventure comic after it came out! I thought it was pretty good, even as a sort of "follow-up" for the original game (which I've never played.) I also really liked how they incorporated Witchcart and her gang into the Archie universe. The Egg Bosses in general were all really good, it's a shame we didn't get to see more of them all. They took the ideas that actually worked and were interesting from before, then added onto it. I'm especially curious to see if Eggman was plotting revenge on Breezie for denying him one of the Chaos Emeralds. Obviously he ended up failing regardless, her refusal didn't matter, but he seems more like his AoStH incarnation who was truly despicable and petty. I know we had the Ruby Phantom turning up from Forces so maybe he would've just ended up giving us or revealing the existence of the Hard-Boiled Heavies instead, but I could see him deciding to take some of his frustrations out on Breezie in the near future and Wendy would've shaken things up in that regard. Also Ian somewhat snidely hinted online Breezie might've been a robot in Archie too so that would've really gotten interesting! haha but mostly I just wanted to see more Egg Bosses, possibly the Battle Lord deciding to throw off his allegiance to Eggman after Akhlut tries to wipe out Tundra and Clove thought she lost Cassia... and if any of them found out Breezie used to be Eggman's spy or that Maw has some of the prisoners for lab testing. I just imagine at some point the bosses would be in turmoil and Eggman is a horrible leader so even if he can contain the dissenters, it might have the blow-back that it could be harder to get new bosses? Or just seal the thought they're replaceable which I know would temporarily deter some of them but not permanently for all of them. Anyway, I hope at some point the Battle Birds get to turn up in IDW, I loved what Archie did with Kukku XV, Speedy, and Dr. Fukurokov. Well except for Ian's initial running gag about Fukurokov's name and trying to shoe-horn Predator Hawk into Tracy Yardley's story lol. (Edit: In retrospect, though he still has a bland name and bland motivation, he did say he hunted the Rogue but at some point the Rogues rescued him, which implies it had to be after they broke out on their own and left. That works better since it doesn't conflict with Speedy trying to stop them in their flashback. Also, I enjoy seeing Speedy showing different facets of his personality with other characters and his father being protective of him.) Maybe Sega only wants to use those one-off baddies as special fodder and not incorporate them into the main-line which is a bit sad.

I've read through the Tails 30th special IDW did. It was nice, though I'm very mixed about these new versions of Witchcart and her goons. Hocke-Wulf is the only one maintaining his Archie sonic personality. At least they're sticking with the Hocke name instead of changing it again. Witchcart now acts like Gruntilda, Bearenger acts like Yosemite Sam, and my least favorite is Carrotia. I guess I'm just too attached to her Archie Sonic counterpart, not really vibing with IDW's version where she acts like Garfield for sone reason.

@@MeltingMan234 That's fair. TBH I didn't go in expecting much nor did I know what their original game versions were like so I wasn't disappointed. I like both versions of Carrotia; I don't consider the IDW version as Garfield but it's a distinct change. Honestly, I kinda had Lola Bunny's voice in my head even if that doesn't really match Lola from the Looney Tunes Show. Or more like Babs Bunny? I guess IDK lol but as a nonbinary AFAB with a history of depression the IDW version still resonated with me. I do love the Archie version though! I like flirty, silly ladies who will ruin your life and I thought her more practical outfit was stylish and excellent. Maybe IDW will shake them up again if they ever bring them back since that was still the Classic Era, I think. 😋

I say Wendy was a decent addition and she has potential to be a big villain. At least we’ll see her again in IDW.

One thing I love about Archie's that took characters that nobody cared about and made them interesting. This is a prime example of that I can't wait to see them in IDW.

Fun fact this character was never meant to be a sonic character. It was actually a character for Mickey game. However since they lost the license they changed the character to tails.

I've heard some talks about it, though I wouldn't consider it fact but more as a myth. Haven't seen any concert evidence to back up those claims.

They were probably created just to replace the Disney characters instead of being created for Disney, since Pete got changed to Bearenger between the beta footage and final release. Witchcart may have been the Evil Queen.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT SPEAKING OF SONIC LOST WORLD. I don't know the like Reboot cannon of Archie Sonic that well but from my knowledge Robotitization doesn't seem to be a like super big thing in that cannon compared to the old one. So like does that mean Robotnik would have made a Robotitization machine in Lost World. Considering in the game the Deadly Six try to like turn Tails into a Robot and all that. Because that would have been like very Interesting.

@William Pulfer-melville yeah lots to talk about with Archie Sonic Characters. Some with a lot or little history, some with potential that was wasted like poor Thrash, and others that are just odd.

I really wish Reboot was a hard reboot of Archie Sonic. And not a pseudo hard reboot. Because even if they created the new timeline. Said timeline came out of the death of the original one, which is still canon. Preboot is still canon to Reboot as it’s what leads to Reboot’s canonical creation. And I hate that. It’s one thing to stop working on a series and start a new one for legal reasons. But I hate the idea of destroying the original timeline just so you are technically not fully a reboot. While I do like Reboot. It is hard to acknowledge that this universe only exists canonically because of the Super Genesis Wave. And it gets worse because they give the characters memories of Preboot, but never do anything about it. Making the entire plot line pointless and confusing when it should be brought into the table. Like when Tails is fighting M’Egga Man. Or how Sally should be more traumatized and unable to battle like in ASO instead of walking it off after one pep talk from Nicole. Again though, with that said, I still like Reboot for what it is. I mean it wasn’t its fault for the death of Preboot in both our world and the Archie Sonic canon.

the thing I am most curious about is how the IDW wendy is with Magic since from what I heard there is no magic in the sonic universe (games or any current media) which is frustrating since in the early days of Tails be it Fleetway and Archie Tails Magic was his thing
