They don't have a gay story to show what it's like to be gay. There is no story about self-discovery. It's not a huge, fancy gay adventure. It's just two guys getting to know each other and liking each other. Talking about yourself, asking about the other. It's a simple love story that captures you in the best of love: It just happens! It's not about big things, it's about simplicity that captures the best of little that becomes a lot. The writers killed it SO MUCH.

fr. adventure time really does justice to writing great queer characters. their story wasn't about discovering them liking the same sex or being a coming of age gay story. it's just 2 people liking e/o and getting to know the other and being there for the other.

Yeah, cuz being gay affects NOTHING in your life. As I see, Adventure Time has always made things by metaphors, just like both accepting themselves and even refusing the mother's "love." Gay people aren't just like anybody. They were brainwashed, hurt and for their whole lives while their movement isn't strong enough just like other social movements to even grant human rights. This shows does good to the LGBT community, precisely, because it does not pretend the world is perfect and everyone has the same necessities - the show creates problems that the characters have to resolve, it represents and teach about the world.

I always thought those two need their own love story moments in the show. And I believed Gumlee could be an example of what bubbline could've had in adventure time. Instead of just being pushed into the relationship, they went through everything step by step. I just hope they would do another season so we can see more as they grow. Gumlee for life! 🏳️‍🌈❤😊

I swear gary was taller than marshall in the first few episodes, but in episode 10 marshall becomes the taller one amongst the two. Also gotta love their how their relationship is healthy. they stand up for one another and forgive each other for the mistakes they made, not letting petty drama affect them like what often happens to other fictional gay couples. actual goals ngl

I really love this love story. It have a meeting, bonding, deep connection, and also the spark that officially starts the relationship. Gary is meant to be a non-magical version of Gumball. As Prismo's name for him was Prince Gumball. PBs name is just Bonnie Bubble-gum.

Actually, the reason his name is Gary is so it matches his nickname “PG”. “PB” is Bubblegum’s nickname, because it can either refer to her title Princess Bubblegum or her actual name Bonniebel (both start with B). The same applies for Gumball, his actual name has to start with a G to keep the joke, so it’s Gary.

I think its just another way to throw a gay couple into the mix when we already had pb and marceline, and the original characters of the prince and marshal from adventure time were never romantic with each other. So it kinda feels out of nowhere.
