This little Ryobi riding lawn mower has been a game-changer for my father in law. It is sturdy, quick, and nimble. It fits where the other larger commercial riding lawnmowers can't. I would recommend this riding mower by Ryobi if you have an acre or less.

In Australia they are around $4500. Ive had mine for around a year now. 1. The ignition key often becomes faulty, I have bypassed mine, its just a DPST so two wires only. Locking the break on requires a very long arm to reach down to activate the brake. The Mower is very heavy and combined with skinny back wheels you don't want to go over grass while wet otherwise the wheels will destroy the lawn. As far as power goes, I moved from a Toro and its pretty good however you do notice not as much grunt as petrol when pulling a load in the trailer. One massive benefit which was un expected is the small turning circle, much better than a petrol because of less mechanics underneath. If I had a chance again I'd select the Ryobi again. Having an electric Ride on Mower is very very convenient.

@@djmashing The ryobi is still going well, the batteries so far are fine. I have moved the Ryobi to another property and purchased an Ego Zero Turn. After having a few mishaps I now love the Ego. It's lighter with the Lithium batteries but with larger wheels so does not damage the lawn, Its far more powerful so the cut is better, leaving the lawn like a carpet and its just more fun to use. P.S. If you buy a zero turn, read up on how to use them safely on a hill before you sit in the drivers seat.

I think just forget all the accessories and the gizzmos it just has to cut grass. Put some Kavli Blades on it and it will cut better than any of YOUR commercial mowers no matter how tall your grass is or how wet. The mower is only the vehicle the blades do the cutting.

Neighbor has one and its definitely not for larger yards. He has a .5 acre lot but mows about .3. Half way through the season last year it started failing to make it through the full cut. Its been back to the shop 3 times. Their reply is your mowing too fast with the grass too high which is untrue as this guy is a yard perfectionist. He went back to a gas rider. I think once the manufacturers go to LiPo batteries it will be better. We have a local "Returned pallet" and "close out" shop that I stop by on occasion. They are FULL of returned RYOBI products.

Lithium batteries present their own unique problems tho. Including most types not liking to take a charge under 32° without becoming damaged on the first shot. Plus a LiFePO4 battery verses a SLA, currently (year 2021 in case someone shows up 5 years from now) would increase the mower price by probably double after manufacturer's GPM is worked into the mix.

Ryobi has totally revamped their once non-existent customer service & it is now awesome. I purchased this mower in 2018, with the lead acid batteries. It was great for almost 3 years, & would run for easily an hour or 2. Then it started sputtering & eventually quit running, right before the warranty ran out. At the time, Ryobi was completely unhelpful---they did not service the riding mowers at all, just gave me the run-around for hours. BUT---after I wrote a VERY negative review on the Home Depot website, they contacted me, & they sent someone out to fix the little beast. It is now better than new & I've gone from total thumbs down to thumbs up on this mower. It is now sold with lithium batteries & you can get the basic model for under $3K, much cheaper than other battery mowers. their rep told me they are setting up a network of customer service reps just for the mowers, trying to get local shops on board to be authorized repair shops. I would buy another one in a flash, highly recommend.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated. 👍🏻

Honestly, my terrain isn't perfect. I have a lot of bumps and terrian in my yard and ditches, don't have an issue. What I found is that the rider is a lot smoother when you've got the deck lowered and are actually mowing, but if you have the deck rised all the way and are just driving the mower around without the blades engaged the ride is a bit bumpy.

General Electric built one of the heaviest, toughest, fully electric garden tractors ever built, and they did it back in the 70's. They have quite a cult following and are still very capable today if refurbished with newer style batteries. That said, I'd still like to see one of these Ryobi's in some very thick, wet grass.
@Solarbeez
@Solarbeez 4 жыл бұрын
I've used one for two years. It works fairly well on suburban grass but the tall thick grass, loaded with moisture will slow it down. It helps to cut it 'high' first, then come back and cut it lower. Do not make sharp turns on wet soggy ground...it can GET STUCK and when it gets stuck you'll need something to pull it out because your weight on it makes it that much heavier. I think I had some mole holes which added to the problem. A come-along and a long rope did the trick. Since I've learned to stay out of mucky ground, my time with this Ryobi has been good. I'm really happy with being able to mow without the hassles of getting gas, oil, and filters. The turn ratio is very tight. The power is very good even when going up inclines. Footnote: Do you have any idea on how to buy just the Ryobi motor and controller? I'd like to convert my 2002 DR PowerWagon. The Ryobi motor is very powerful with high torque at slow speeds plus it moves along faster than a quick walk. It could work on the DR PowerWagon without losing any power and still move loads fast.

These kick the absolute most ass in THICC wet grass. Remember, electric machines, whether it be cars or mowers, their power output is pure torque, so there's less stress, wear, and tear on the blades. This thing does NOT bog down. Also, there's less parts to break. I've owned this for over a year now and have beaten the absolute shit out of it. I use it for plowing snow and I run over a ton of large sticks and it eats them up like Rosie O'Donnell at Golden Corral. Yet, it still runs like it's brand new. I am NOT exaggerating when I say I beat the absolute shit out of this thing. I used to scoff at electric products, but this thing made me a true believer. You know what's even more crazy? I've not once experienced a single issue yet. I had to have my John Deer serviced TWICE within the first year at over $100 an hour, and that stupid mower was twice as expensive. This thing embarrasses my old JD in almost every single way and is substantially cheaper. The cruise feature is also amazing. My only complaint is that it's much louder than I originally expected. Anyways, if you have less than two acres to mow and are sick of paying $4 a gallon to mow stupid grass, get this mower now. You won't be disappointed. Most of all, I absolutely LOVE how smooth it feels. Once you use an electric mower you will never go back to a vibrator.

ok, that's great, all things new are great, till years later, so,,, will this be a game changer in the next 3-5 yrs?? maybe you should keep us updated for the next 3-5yrs when the honeymoon newness is over with.?. i bet those batteries won't last and i'm willing to bet that the customer service for it won't be good either. i would love to own one, but, very hesitant based upon other reviews, price, and customer comments. i could have bought a used one last year for bout $1500, but, i was thinking more about the batteries and not the unit, either the guy was prolly getting rid of it because of the batteries, how much to replace, and dealing with crummy cust. service, or he just didn't like it and made a mistake, i couldn't see gambling on the deal. great vid, thanks.

Every new tool usually feels solid for the most part when new, the question I have for this Chinese tur…..tractor is is how long will it last? I’m hearing stories on KZbin already with faulty batteries 🔋 needing replacement after just a few years. At $250 to $350 per battery with the electric mower using 4, that’s not cheap alternative. The Chinese are among the worst at making long lasting batteries too. I’d love for this to be good. I like the idea of no more crap belt replacement or thrown belts. I got 10 years outta my Deere before it had any major issues which is usually blown head gasket. That wasn’t in the Deere catalog for some reason. My favorite thing was replacing belts only to have them only last a year before needing replacement even after I lubed the deck spindles. I’d try one maybe if they have a good enough warranty, here’s hoping!

4 Battle Born Lithium 100 amp hr batteries would set you back $3200. 4 Ryobi AGM batteries would set you back $1000. AGM Batteries properly maintained and charged after each use can be cycled up to 500 times in theory. If you mow, say 40 times per year, the theoretical life could 12 years. In RVs six years life is a good average for an AGM. So AGM batteries in this mower is not such a silly idea if the box stores are selling to a price point. Money no object we would all love lithium.
@DjKamiKaze09
@DjKamiKaze09 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but lithium batteries would need to be properly stored. Most people don't have a heated garage or shed, or live in warm climates. Plus these are cheaper to replace, and you wouldn't need to change all of them if only one was to lose it's charge or completely die.

You mentioned that the 75Ah battery was more than enough to mow the 1/2 acre. How much does the 1/2 acre drain the battery? With that battery technology my understanding is that it's best for the long term health of the battery to never discharge fully.

How is Ryobi after sales support? Unlike others, they don't seem to have support locally as the lawn mower sold through Home Depot. It would be a better design if the lawn mower uses Lithium Ion Battery. Not a fan of lead acid battery as it has diminishing charge overtime.
