Obviously turbines come in many sizes, this one would be too big for household. Only use if you have a low head and big stream, not a small mountain steam...

The actual generator doesn't look very big, how many MW is that? When you say it keeps at a constant speed, you mean you throttle down the water flow, or is it a variable speed gearbox? The concrete building is pretty darned ugly.

I have always thought that the screw was to lift water up to a higher level. It should have occurred to me that the reverse could be used to generate energy... How dumb am I?

it's not the most efficient, but it has the least environmental impact

Keplan turbines are better for the same use and they also don't kill fish. Not sure about the advantage of this system.

Sorry but these Hydro Archimedean screw pumps are fish friendly (proven by NEN 8775), they have been used for centuries as a pump and are mostly prescribed by the government because of their fish friendly. They have an exceptional long lift time (easy 40 years, achived) and a very low maintenance.
