Should the code not include something of a definition of what the profession of architecture is - such that those outside the profession may understand and find use in it? For example, to act as an arbiter used to be part of the definition.

It does seem there has been a lot of erosion of the profession of architecture since the introduction of the JCT pro forma Design-Build Contract in 1981, with a lot of blame levied at the architect in recent years, with little definition being offered - together these permit others to believe it is an unnecessary and meddling profession. Yet, it has unique abilities and capacities, with as much training as the legal profession. Furthermore, in law, disputes are two sided, i.e. plaintiff and defendant. Architecture and design relates to the interaction of three roles: client, designer, and contractor. This makes arbitration in architecture, for example, critical in resolving ideas and disputes, where legal routes are insufficient.
