Such a pity I don't know Firenze so well, in addition to the historical old town, I think you can check some modern or contemporary places like the new Opera House, the "The Highway Church" and the Florence Court of Justice, (there is also the construction site of the new high speed station by Foster, but it's just a construction site ahah). But if you prefer nature, i suggest you to catch a regional train or rent a car and visit the surrounding hills, hot springs, castles and forests, the true beauty of Tuscany :)
