I started playing these archives at work during my lunch break. Way before this archive was released on Spotify, the 4 guys who work for me were wanting to listen to them daily. They're all down to earth kind of guys, aged between 42 and 61, who just love listening to Cams stories, whether they believe the subject matter or not. Now that's the sign of a good storyteller. So is the fact that I'm now happily listening to it again for maybe the 3rd time. 🙂

This is in my top 5 Best of Dixie Cryptid. Can't say how many times I have listened to it but as a Stephen King fan since HighSchool and now I'm 62-I would say the writer of this tale is on the same level of King. It's amazing.

When you posted this earlier today, I knew I would listen to this just before I would go to settle into my bed. Nothing better than Classic Cam narrating a story, one of the many, but a classic. Listening to "living on the farm" reminds me of my own youth. Although, I grew up in a suburbs of a large city on the west coast. And as a child, my parents would tell me about living on a farm during the Great Depression. It was a simpler time. I would yammer to them how I wished we had a farm, instead we lived in a big city. When I was about 15 yrs old, we drove up to Washington state in June. I ended up staying on a huge Ranch in which I worked from before sunup to night...I loved every daing minute of it. My dad figured, I'd work so hard it would disillusion me about living on a farm. But it didn't! I could waste more lines in this comment section, but I'll end it. By the time my parents drove back up in mid-August, I was a full cowgirl. Boots, hat, and basically tan almost everywhere. ( the Ranch had a ginormous swimming pool and the water came from a warm spring nearby. There were about 12 of us temporary Ranch hands employed there in the summer. I'll never forget that summer in Eastern Washington. And, by the way, I did end up buying a 98 acre ranch of my own in Eastern Utah, and raised both of my children on that ranch. They didn't grow up spoiled, but learned how to work and be honest and respect another person. Thank you very much Cam! Fall is near and here in Southwestern Appalachian's we're expecting Hurricane Helene up here to dump a ton of rain around Thursday night into Friday. Time for me to drag out the electric blankets. 😅

Dear Cameron, Sir, you are a modern-day Bard... continuing the time-honored tradition of verbal storytelling. This story moved me so very deeply, and while I recognize that you may not have written it, your wonderful voice and inflection brought it to life in a manner that very few these days, could ever hope to. You have a great gift, and I, for one, hope and pray that you continue to share it with all of us. Thank you a thousand times. May you and yours be well and safe. After all, as you and I both know, Things do go "bump" in the night. Gratefully yours, Mel Sessler

I'm only 6 minutes in and I have to stop for a moment. I got to the part where she explains why they called her "Shadow". That sounded so much like me and my grandpa, i kind of lost it. I grew up living next door to my grandparents and we were very, very close. I remember the night he died, 55 years ago. Even all these years later I still miss him terribly. My 4 little boys (ages 5-10) took care of my grandmother the last 2 1/2 years of her life so she could stay on her beloved farm and be cared for by family, not strangers. Thank you for sharing these stories. (I'm not as fond of the fictional ones, but as long as they're clearly labeled as such I'm OK with them.) Now I'm off to finish listening! ❤🦍👣👀❤
