Archives building construction time lapse July 2023

Halfway there! Check out the latest time lapse from December 2022 to April 2023 on our new Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga building in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
18 months in, we’re now at the halfway point. Construction partners LT McGuinness Ltd. have installed all 38 base isolators on site, as well as excavating 15,000 cubic metres of soil and placed 11,000 cubic metres of concrete.
Construction is on track to be completed in Jan 2025, with the building open in 2026.
Department of Internal Affairs, Taranaki Whānui Te Atiawa representatives and design agency, Tihei Ltd, have worked with Warren and Mahoney to codesign this building.
