5:32 - The man in the commercial is John Davies. He was on many "Wayne & Shuster" specials, but is best known for playing Scrooge in Canadian Tire's "Give like Santa, and save like Scrooge" commercials.

Timothy Eaton's descendants grew up in such wealth and privilege that they had no "fire in the belly" to keep building the business. They lost touch with their customers. How else to explain their disastrously boneheaded decision to cancel the Santa Claus Parade, because it was "too expensive"?

They could have easily kept the store going, but the family wasn't interested in keeping up the store when they had race cars, film production studios and so many other things to keep them busy.
