Adam Campbell’s life has revolved around motion. As one of the world’s top ultra runners, his mantra has been simple: ‘If you’re not moving, you’re dead’. This life of movement came to an abrupt halt on August 30th, 2016, when he experienced a near fatal accident while attempting a traverse through Roger’s Pass in BC, with runners Nick Elson and Dakota Jones. Grabbing a loose rock hold, Adam tumbled nearly 100 feet, sustaining 4 broken vertebrae, a crushed iliac crest and deep lacerations to the bone.
Having a body now supported with titanium rods and screws, Adam begins to question the integrity of his athletic future.
Ten months later, while searching for the athlete he once was, Adam finds himself at the start line of the Hardrock 100, a hundred mile ultra race he medalled at in the past. It’s within these hundred miles that Adam discovers what he’s looking for won’t be found on the results board.

What a great job Cameron did following my son's journey of recovery. This documentary is very emotional for me to watch and is extremely well done. Thanks Cameron for avoiding blood in the surgical shots. I have been to many of Adam's races, but was not able to be there for his Hard Rock come back - a race I would love to have been at. I will be forever grateful to Nick, Dakota and all the search and rescue people and medical professionals for such a good outcome and to my amazing daughter-in-law for being such a rock through all of this.

I had heard about your accident Adam, and read a little about your recovery online. What a tremendous accomplishment. In a life spent engaged in sport, this may not be your best placing but surely it is one of the most meaningful. All the best, to you and your family.

"For my entire life, my physical self is being, how i define myself, i think better in motion i'm happier when i'm in motion i'm just a person in motion, if you're not moving you're dead, that's always how i've seen it. " - Adam Campbell This quote really hit home for me, i couldn't agree more.

Great film about a great guy. I found Adam impressive for his athletic exploits, but after the accident I found him even more impressive for the recovery he made and his outlook on life. I never had a serious accident, but I can vaguely imagine the drive and the hard work (both physical and mental) you need to recover from something like this. He's certainly a guy I would like to have a beer with!

Good movie about a moment when one comes to crossroads. It's only after having been back in the sport for a while after an accident that you will know how the accident has affected you. It can be live changing in many ways, but it's not necessarily like that.

Great film about a great accomplishment. Emotional for most of us involved in mountain sports, especially those of us who have been injured to one degree or another. I work in orthopedic surgery and my gut tells me that these scenes were recreated for the film. Too much slick camera work for most operating rooms. Even still, they were well done. Can't wait to see how it goes this year.

It was actual footage in the operating room. Cameron did an awesome job of it

That was a generous surgeon letting him into the O.R. Many would not. That took some quick planning to get that in line I bet and the film is better for it.

Hey Brian, the surgery shots were actually from the extraction of the hardware from my spine which happened in November, not the initial accident footage
@brianharder7714
@brianharder7714 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam. Thanks for the reply. That makes way more sense to my surgical brain. As you know, most operating rooms don't let just anyone in the door. I imagine Cameron had to get some shots and be vetted to do what he did. Still, it was a key element of the overall impact of the film. Welcome back!

Yes, this is terrific display of human spirit and effort, but why...? I also aim at ultras, but fawking why turn your life into race? It's just our ego that pushes us beyond and keeps whispering that this and that and that is not enough... that we are not good enough and thats why we have to push more for more more more more and more races by screwing up our bodies completely. Whats the point anyways? Just do few ultras a year and be engaged in something else instead burning yourself in the trails of your ego. Dont think that I cast Adam or his achievments down but this is complete mess.
