Thanx for the Van Tour. Just the way i like them. No BS just a good story and details. I wonder how much insulation you have in the walls and floor for this Arctic trip. (Planning my own Arctic trip)
@Jess_and_Alex_Adventure9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Hard to tell when you’ve edited and watched it a million times 😂 We’ve just realised we completely forgot about what insulation we’ve put in! We’ve got 35mm kingspan in the roof, 50mm in the lower walls, recycled bottle insulation anywhere we could stuff it and then finally expanding foam anywhere there wasn’t wiring looms. The floor we have nothing but double bubble. We’ve seen people will proper king span floors and they still have stuff freezing to the floor. So we kept the roof height as high possible.
@zuk4wd9 ай бұрын

Nice to see how you tackled the Arctic, we have just returned from our own trip and the place is amazing and we feel it has to be on the bucket list of everyone who owns a van. The one thing we do not have is an engine pre-heater and while we never had any problems, but it is something i will be adding before we return. I tried to look for a link to the one you have but you don't seem to list one, only the extra exhaust hose. Would you be kind enough to link me to your pre-heater, also if you have a video on the install, it would be very interesting to see.
@Jess_and_Alex_Adventure8 ай бұрын
Thankyou! I mean to be fair you could go up there and not have a cold snap or only be on the Norwegian coast. I’ve put a link to the pre-heater in the description now, went don’t have any video of fitting it but each van is different! This van the easiest place in on the passenger side chassis leg, with rivnuts for the mounting plate and then tapped into the return of the heater matrix.
@Alivefrom458 ай бұрын
@@Jess_and_Alex_AdventureThanks, I'll check out the link, on another note was it is easy to fit the winch? I know you state you got the extra bumper frame mount, which i'm guessing you need to strip out the whole front end to fit.

Great video and lovely van. Hadn't heard of fridge seals drying out it left open. Did I understand this right and bay keeping fridge on anything else which can be done to stop it?
@Jess_and_Alex_Adventure9 ай бұрын
So the fridge has refrigerant in it just like a car air conditioning system. If you don’t use your fridge just like a car air con system the seals dry out and crack. But on the flip side leaving it on all the time means the compressor is working. So it’s a catch twenty two. We leave ours running generally all the time and turn it off periodically for a week or so with the door open.
@martynah999 ай бұрын
Nice Van 8-) , would advise against rigid single core mains cable for your 240 side though, eventually may fracture under vibration. Better to use flexible mains cable everywhere.

Wow ! All looks beautiful ! But why do you not use a power station ? I think when yo would buy 2 of them it would be cheaper then all the battery`s and Victron stuff, and loose a lot of weight...
@Jess_and_Alex_Adventure8 ай бұрын
Thank you!!! 🙏 The closest thing to our capabilities is the Anker F3800 to achieve the same inverter level we have. But we would need 2 to even compete with the battery capacity we currently have. They are around £3400 each and 60kg. We’ve got around £2000 in to our entire electrical system and it weighs around 70kg. The other thing is redundancy. If that power bank shuts down you lose everything. The way we have it allows for for more modular replacement.

great van tour video guys. loads of neat ideas i may have to pinch from you to put in my van build. can i ask, where did you get the ceiling material from and the front land rover seats how complicated are they to wire up to work? cheer and happy safe travel👍👍👍👍
@Jess_and_Alex_Adventure9 ай бұрын
Thanks guys! We got our ceiling from a company called The Wood Veneer Hub. The seats are not that straight forward, you’ve got to get 3 ways switches and provide power to each motor. If you’re keen on electrical you’ll be fine. If you’re not too confident it would probably be daunting with the amount of wires.

Hi, great van and an inspiration to look at. But I wonder where you leave all your luggage, like the snowboots, down jackets, clothing in general? Do you leave it in the back and if so, can you get acces from inside? We're planning a similar trip with a much smaller van and are wondering where to put all our stuff.
@Jess_and_Alex_Adventure6 ай бұрын
So we have roof lockers in our van. The one over the bed is filled with our clothes, like thermals, T-shirts, jumpers etc. Snowboots and shoes of all kinds stayed by door on a rubber backed mat to stop them sticking to the floor. A lot the of the jackets and the likes went in the over cab storage. This is usually where we’d keep our window covers but they stayed on the windows at all times!
