I've been in love with this lyrical masterpiece since I was a scared teenager, angry at everything and raged with how everyone was behaving around me. Perfectly captures teenage angst and exhaustion with the pretentiousness that accompanies growing up. The safe-haven kind of song.

It gives me a sense of nostalgia for something I haven't experienced yet or something that likely has to happen, even if already did once, like special times, or having a special romance (heh). Makes me want to go outside in very casual outfits, yet fashionable, and living carefree of social conventions.

The people that Alex Turner describes in this song are actually his own friends, (Reebok classics, or spent converses) and they try to convince him to go out to a party to behave like idiots and he doesn't want to go by his way of being, Alex bets on Romance or the old. In the end he manages to access the party in the form of "I had no choice, they are my friends".

Yes definitely one of the best songs. Even better if you watch AM in concert. Or on BBC One.. This song is really a classic beauty... if you listen to the lyrics As well Alex Turner's early young voice was still developing as a young man to a Man. You would be surprised if you watch the interview with him. Interesting actually and Pretty much to the point where they started and where they all have met has friends to see the Loyalty Trust Love Kindness and Respect for eachothers opinions. Hopefully you will be able to learn more about the history. Check out the reason why for the 505 song and the new music why the door on the hotel is what it is... I'm not going to tell you that Figure it out Sherlock Holmes lol 😂😂 😂 Enjoy 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️❤️😘✌️✌️ Damnit nope no reason to give it away.. Not even any romance either way this tune is one of the best 👌❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶✌️

I must say that The Arctic Monkeys are one of the most brilliant underrated bands in the world. If only the whole world would listen to their amazing music and poetic lyrics, I believe that everyone could have something in common, and less fighting amongst ourselves. Yet one can only dream... By the way, I am not trying to equate this excellent band with world peace or anything- I am just saying that their songs have some lyrics and music that most people can relate to. That's all.

This is my first time listening to this. I’m not sure what the definitive meaning of the song is, but to me at least it comes off as an introspective look at life in a place like Sheffield for a teenager, which I can kinda relate to. And if it is, the music backs that up perfectly with its soft and melodic, yet harsh tones. It’s incredibly mature for a debut album. Although I might just be overthinking it. Whatever the case, it’s a gr8 song

I grew up in Mandeville, Louisiana. A suburb of New Orleans. its no sheffield or working class area. but it reminds me of friendship, the shit we got into, the cops we always ducked, the hooliganism. Hooligan-ism is widespread across the western world. One time the gang of four went dumpster diving behind a books-a-million after a long night of stealing shit off of peoples property and shattering tree lights in new ritzy subdivisions and found they were unloading crates upon crates of books for the store, and so we bagged a crate int he back and took off, as it was completely unattended. We took those books and went to the woods far north in Folsom, near a river camp my grandparents owned, and then we poored thru them. All crap- whole way there, high, feeling the headlights on the back of our neck come upon us at 3 am and just linger behind us at a solid 55 mph thinking oh shit here we go- cops. a bunch of stoned teens, and a crate full of books lifted from the booksamillion. And when we finally reached our destination, we found a bunch fo crap and dumped them in the river. Just total wastes of humanity and all. Still, I love those days and miss them true. We spent another night driving down the road getting hammered on way to the quarter singing the entire way across ponchartrain bridge the song on repeat- from ween- the blarney stone. Just hooliganism - good fun.

Hello, i want to share a little bit of me here, hope y´all don´t mind. I never lived my life as i wanted, i never had a group of friends to hang with, or friendo who came over my house and ask my mom if i can go out and play with them, i never had the chance to dance in some kind of party with my best friends at the time, be cause i´am shy AF, never went to a sleep over, never tried to learn some kind of instrument, never broke a bone or something like that... now i´m 21, there´s some many details i dind´t wrote... be cause, they personal... but this song, makes me dream about those time where i was younger... if just only try things and push myself to be better everyday... now im alone, forgotten by my friends, sad and... i feel my life is fading away, beside the fact im 21, im still young... but, i really feel my life´s over.

I’ve learn in my years to keep friends at a distance close but not to close. I lived my life the way my father condition me to live it and it didn’t get me know where but almost dead and in jail i was going to be a singer and help my family be better the only thing is I’m extremely shy introvert who can be the life of the party once u get to know me I have stage fright crippling can’t breath on all fours having a panicked attack and why I do that is because I was told by kids in school and my dad I wasn’t pretty enough to be famous so I stayed quite.
