This is my dad and brother. They were in a talent show that day and everyones shoes were flying off. My dad and Jamie came dad said "dont have to worry about being hit with shoes for now" because they had no shoes on. It was funny.

Sierra Hurley...You are SO FORTUNATE to have such talented a father and brother! Are you maybe hiding your own light under a bushel? 🎵🌹🌹❤❤ Bye the bye..the shoe business WAS funny!

Thank you to those who enjoyed the video. It was a lot of fun. To give you a little insight on how this happened. My son was asked to interview person who practiced a heritage skill. (If you don't know what that is grab a Foxfire book and read it) I have been woodworking all my life and playing the dulcimer along the way. James picked me to interview and write his story. During the project he tells me that he is to learn more about the trade by building something.

Being part of the community, it should occur to you that the mountain people do not need help from you to diminsih the pride and culture of the entire community of glorious Hillbillies.

I think it is cool.......I just got a dulcimer this weekend and I really like the sound of it. The drone string reminds me a little of the sound of bag pipes. Very well done guys. Thanks for posting.

Exactly! The treble string has the melody and the other two drone, like a bagpipe. Many play it with full chords and finger picking also.

Thank you! I learned to play Amazing Grace by watching your video over and over. My version is called "Amazing Grace with feather pick/cat toy" and I am MacyJayne100 on KZbin

I was born in the great Smoky mountains North Carolina in 1939 and never talked stupid like that and never dressed like that in the first place we are not hillbillies we are mountain folks I found this whole thing to be an insult to my ancestors and myself. I liked the music but not the Hollywood thyme put down.
@Al3oxnfri9 жыл бұрын
The music is undeniably beautiful and the talent outstanding. The dumbed-down theatrics are unnecessary. More music, less show 👍
@jakewollin62626 жыл бұрын
it's actually very insulting. It's the reason dulcimewr players and banjo players can never be seen as more than mindless hillbilles in the mainstream or just walking down the street with one of these instruments brands you a hick.. I dont appreciate the dumbed down theatrics as theyre called
@pearlcaster82876 жыл бұрын
I agree; "dumb hill-billy" venue, puns or not, aren't amusing, witty, or a venue for the instrumental music's appeal,

I agree and the very last part was another secondary part of Amazing Grace,in the second part its when the angels come marching home Amazing Grace

This is the equivalent of a minstrel show. But on our society, this is still socially acceptable because it makes fun of white Southerners.

Sad to see something so beautiful as Amazing Grace on dulcimer ruined by slandering the Appalachian people who invented the instrument..
@reganabramson50395 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree with you. I hear so many bad rumors about the Appalachian people, and where's the evidence? And it's a shame, because they were just hardworking people who played bluegrass at the end of a long day, and revered it, and this old, beautiful music, needs to be preserved.

God hates belching? First I've heard of that. Odd how He made us so gassy then. I tend to think it's His decision on whether or not to take offense. Grace has many forms and I think laughter is one of the greatest, but as I said, it's for Him to decide. When a man chooses to take offense, it has more to do with his willingness to be offended than anything else. The offender lacks that power. The offended renders the offense with the power over himself. Great music, bless you all.

@D13G054NCH3Z The people living in the Appalachian mountains and all across the South. The only ones left in this country who are still openly discriminated against and mocked because of an accent and location. Maybe we talk funny, but we ain't stupid. And we know what good music is ;)

Your second song Fre’re Jacque was written on a manuscript in 1775. A Paris Music Company wrote the first manuscript for the public in 1865. Hence it has turned into a Nursery Rhyme. My late uncles were Men of the Mountains and the Coal Mines, and they didn’t mind being called a Hill Billy. They told me they were proud of it! Your cute presentation of being a faux hillbilly tells me that you youn’in’s might be a new kind of hillbillies who might even get manicures.😂 Mountain men came from rougher and tougher stuff but you guys play a wonderful dulcimer. Thank you for the music.

Beautiful music, but you sure could have left the belching out. Just because a person is a "hillbilly" doesn't mean someone is crude and ill mannered. As a "hillbilly" miyself, I'm somewhat offended by how people stereotype us.
