Arduino controlled tractor

Brief description showing arduinos being used to control a tractor while still being able to maintain normal operations.

I do think this progress is really interesting. I never even thought that all of those controls are just electric switches but it makes sense that you can interface directly to the tractor computer instead of less reliable mechanical linkages. Very cool.

This is so cool. I imagine that over time aftermarket automation kits could be developed for older tractors. Then, Farmers don't have to buy new ones w/ DRM that blocks them out fixing their own machines.

The tractor is already in "F" for forward clearly on the display and you've got the speed lever in the "2" section of the "slot". It starts moving because you took your foot off the brakes and the transmission came out of "power zero". The engine idle speed is so slow and you've got the speed range turned down so far that its just creeping in F2. Your "simple 5-volt logic" is a CAN-bus system and the N-P-F-R "controller" is nothing but a few microswitches that "enable" the "real" transmission control system. The exact same reverser is used on PowerQuad transmissions.

Just wondering does this tractor have a CAN bus system like vehicles? If so might be easier for you to control. (BTW cool project)
