Great project. Thanks for sharing. I see the code shows how to do basic movements art 45 degree intervals. My question is how would you move the robot at a different angle, say 17 degrees or 67 degrees etc. It would require knowing direction and speed for each of the 4 wheels. The question is how to calculate them.

Such arrangement will also drag the wheels along with the ground when moving left/right. Thus reducing the longevity of the tires due to more friction.

@HowToMechatronics5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Sure it's possible to make a single code to run both modules. This way they are just simpler to use and understand. Though a simple toggle switch on the robot could do the job for selecting the module, and the two codes could be combined with just some very small adjustments.

Now then, if some enterprising chap were to take all of this stuff put it in kit form, including all the plastic parts; hardware; mdf cutouts; batteries; RF module; electronic components; software and bundle this for, I don't know $150 - $200, you might have something many of us could actually buy & build in a reasonable amount of time. 3:28 there must be a lot of friction to move in diagonal direction because other two wheels and its rollers won't be able to move. Any solution to this problem?
@itay-ziv5 жыл бұрын
That is just 1 of the flaws of Mecanum drivetrains, and cannot be avoided. If you want to improve on it you would have to get a better drivetrain like "H-Drive" Omni-Wheel or Swerve, which can go diagonal (especially the latter) without any extra friction and are much faster in all direction (Mecanum wheels are slower by design)
@darshitdarji32175 жыл бұрын
@@itay-ziv Thank you so much for reply and currently I do not have much knowledge about the drive trains that you have mentioned(This is the first video I have ever seen about mecanum wheels), but I will surely do more research about it. Hats off to your knowledge.
@itay-ziv5 жыл бұрын
@@darshitdarji3217 Just a quick explenation, Omni-Directional wheels are wheels with small rollers that are 90 degrees to the wheel instead of 45, so if you have a robot with 4 of them you can just push it sideways without any effect, so a "H-Drive" just has another wheel which is at a 90 degree angle to the other 4 in the middle of the robot (Hence the H), allowing you to move in all directions based on the speed of the wheels (being omni, they won't have any effect on each other). Swerve is where you have (normally) 4 wheels, which each can change the angle, meaning you can point any one of them in whatever angle you want.
@darshitdarji32175 жыл бұрын
@@itay-ziv I am feeling the luckiest in the world!!!
@ddegn5 жыл бұрын
@@itay-ziv "are much faster in all direction" They're even faster when the wheel isn't aligned with the direction of travel. A four wheeled omni-bot is fastest when travelling 45 degrees from the wheels' alignment. "Mecanum wheels are slower by design" Omni wheels are only faster when moving at an angle to direction of the wheel is turning.
