Impressif list. All the synths are very good usable as music instruments. Nice sounds and good sound quality. Chapeau!

Amazing! I tried using the PSRAM on the ESP32 but could not make the accesses fast enough unfortunately. Nice job on the amazing compilation. Looking forward to what you gonna come out with in 2023. Cheers!!!

I can agree the PSRAM is not as performant as the internal RAM. You always have to take care about using the different memory options.

I really appeciate your work, but without a blog with some written information it is ver hard to follow along. Basically, a screenshot an and the sub title text would do. And some mor details on wiring etc (I just got my MIDI working on the EPS32 Audio Kit; at the end it was easy but it took quite some time...)

Thank you! Yes you are right. I am also missing some kind of overview. I was thinking about making some simple web page but I am afraid doing something wrong cause by German laws. But I am looking forward to find a space for an overview =)

Did you program the first piano you use in this video (the Grand Piano sampler, I presume)?
@marcellicence
@marcellicence Жыл бұрын
The first piano is based on a physical model. I've purchased PianoTeq some time ago which I often use to record plain piano.

@@marcellicence Have you considered using SamplerBox on rPi for a Grand Piano? The sample ability seems able to handle a Grand with the right samples (it allows for various velocities etc). The only thing is there doesn't seem to be a good Grand option yet (the existing 4 or 5 options they have really don't handle velocity well at all).

@@buttonsplaymusic4896 For playing piano music I usually use PianoTeq which requires a computer with some more power. I never tested the SamplerBox. I could imagine to try a bare metal implementation without an operating system which might startup very quickly and work without noticeable latency. Maybe I should give it a try. Thank you very much for the idea!

@@marcellicence On a regular rPi it takes maybe less than 30 seconds to boot and load. The softsynths obviously boot faster (one note which is played at different modifications to create the scale), and the full GrandPiano they have (7 soundfonts for each note for velocities) takes longer. I think the Grand could be faster and way better if it had just 3 or maybe 4 fonts per key, but with much better volume and strength recordings (the current 7 are really not worth the 7 they take up).

@@buttonsplaymusic4896 Sounds good. I could imagine that loading times would be similar on an embedded platform without an operating system. I did some testing with some complex soundfonts. @08:38 I tried to use a soundfont on the daisy seed. I could imagine that you can get better results on the PI when using samples from purchasable instruments.

Happy and healthy 2023 to you! May this year inspire you to continue making such nice projects and sharing them with us! Ever tried creating a vocoder? I've seen implementations on Teensy boards but not on ESP32. Do you think it can be done or is it too slow?
@marcellicence
@marcellicence Жыл бұрын
Hey thank you. To you too! I didn't look at a vocoder yet. I can imagine that you can implement it. I think the limiting factor would be the resolution / count of frequencies which can be analysed and manipulated.
