I don't see a need to "waste" a counter tray for only Marker Counters, so I was able to get the combat units and their specific markers into 2 Aegis counter trays, and the generic markers segregated into five sandwich-size baggies.

GTS is pretty darn amazing. Monster games. Excited to see this & the rest of GTS series. Great preview! Thank you.

Regarding the reference to Panzer Command at the 5:42 mark: copyright date is 1984. I was a playtester on it.

Could tell it was a brilliant system the first time I tried it. The box cover states, "Gateway to Stalingrad, Fall '42 - Spring '43," which implied, to me at least, that it would cover some of the action prior to the street-fighting inside the city. Was the original game, during playtesting, larger in scope, and pared down for the actual release?

@@joeperez3520 Truth be told, it was so long ago, I don't remember!

Got mine about a week ago. Nice package. I think the GTS/CSS maps are very attractive, clear, and useable.

Great preview Gary! Looking forward to my copy arriving. I have cleared some table space for the mini-map scenarios to get used to the system again. I am loving the look of the counters and the maps.

Ordered locally in the U.K. almost 2 years ago. Took quite awhile for this on to reach its P number. The day it did, I pre-ordered. Should be arriving shorty, a few weeks at most. Really like the GTS system.

The GTS convention of the color of the hex's center dot corresponding to the terrain type is something that should be used way more often. ***Edit. I see that you mentioned that near the end of the video.
@paulsaunders65362 жыл бұрын
It can be a little confusing, until you get used to it. We are so wedded to concept that the terrain in the hex is the terrain you are in. Not in GTS…. Caveat emptor 😳

Seems odd that they don't put all the countersheets together and all the player aid cards together, etc. Rather they interleave them. It's really easy to miss a countersheet or needed player aid that way when packing.

I imagine this is just the way they collate.

Its a shame the GTS games are so incredibly expensive in the UK. I am still undecided about buying this one.

BGG says the complexity is 3.75/5.00. Me tinks it is 4+
@ardwulfslair2 жыл бұрын
I'd call the BGG rating about right, for a change. It plays very smoothly, with minimal rules referencing, once you get the hang of it. YMMV, of course.

That is one of the least attractive boxes for a game that I have ever seen. If I saw it in a store, I probably wouldn't notice it. And after watching the unboxing, the maps, rules, and cards are in keeping with the cover. (The counters are actually rather nice looking.) There's no actual rule requiring that you turn down the saturation of every color to 2, but you couldn't prove it by this game. Just because most of the photos from the period are in B&W, that doesn't imply that everything in the world was similarly gray. The subject is interesting and the game might be absolutely brilliant, but it's so relentlessly beige that I'm unlikely to ever try it to find out.

Having spent many months exercising in Norway, during the winter, grey and white and limited daylight hours are the norm. The GTS maps are, in my view, some of the most attractive maps in the hobby. But, if you crave colour have a look at The Little Land, by Adam S. he’s got Russian Marines in shocking pink 😉
