dear steph and adam, i’m an art student from asia, and here you can get holbein tubes for about £1.50 each; i know steph loves holbein gouache, and i would love to be able to send you some holbein watercolors from my stash for you to enjoy! let me know if that’s something you’re interested in :)

The packaging is kind of weird, like it honestly feels like the company could've easily just sold it in a box without extra plastic. Especially since it comes in a box anyway with even more plastic. Especially especially since it wasn't protected by the packaging at all.

@laura9871235 жыл бұрын
I agree, it's a very common marketing tactic to give someone something for free to make them feel like they "owe" you a purchase or in this case a positive review. This used to work on me all the time before I learned about it and for the most part I no longer fall for it. It's just impossible not be at least a little biased when you've been sent a product for free.

The thing with watercolors in tins like that, is you have to spray it and let it absorb the water for a moment and then the pigment comes up easier. I saw that a lot of your complaints had to do with the color or pigment. Thanks by the way for giving an honest review! I feel like you're the only art KZbin channel that is giving a real review of things like Arteza.

I have the Winsor and Newton Cotman set and I personally think it has a better selection of colours for beginners than this set. (Like sap green so you can have a vibrant green or you can mix a more muted colour.) It also seems to always be available for the £12/13 pound mark on Amazon, WHSmiths etc. The appeal of the Arteza set seems to be the metal tin and addition of the water brush.

I am so excited to see your honest reviews on Arteza! I wish I had seen something so honest before I had bought up there watercolor, Gouache, and Acrylic paint tubes since I thought they were going to be great for beginners. The watercolor tubes are nice when you use them right out of the tube but when you try making a pallet with them, they don't last and it made me sad. They cracked and didn't reactivate well and I even bought one of the nicer pallets. The Gouache I had a similar incandescent where they made me think I was doing something wrong since they muddied up even when I was following the correct steps. The things that I can say truly enjoyed were the watercolor pencils and watercolor paper. I would like to see what you both think about the paper or the pencils if you ever get a chance to without having to spend too much money. :)

You guys are so sweet together. I have seen a few reviews on Artezas tube watercolors compared to their pans. And most really liked the pans but did not care for the tubes much, or as much. I don't think they have them made at the same place. Because they are so different. Oh, we got the 6 pack of the red Arteza water brushes & they are the best I have ever used. I highly recommend you try them. And they are also the cheapest I could find. I think they were only like $15.00 U.S. for all 6 brushes. 3 round & 3 flats from small to large. I like both your pictures today. Great job. TYFS

I was complimenting their painting and their reply was to offer the link I didn't appreciate the comment at all and felt as though it was fake and they were only saying to purchase because of the sponsorship. I normally use Holbein, Daniel Smith, recently added Turner and mgraham. I enjoy the pigmentation in all of these brands. I'd never recommend to another artist to buy paints that don't give pigment info. Great review!

Van gough is full artist grade in my opinion, most are also lightfast and the lightfastness information is more available. Cotman ( by Windsor and newton) is lower quality I have replaced almost all of my Colman’s as they were not pigmented enough for me a time went on. Areza has no lightfastness information and last I checked no pigment information available. If it is a choice pleas go for the Van gough (price and availability being a factor). Nice honest review thanks.

Loved the art you did and blue and red are my favorite colors so I loved it even more :D I really like how honest you are when reviewing products :)) Also, I saw in a different video where someone wanted to do a custom pallet with the tube watercolors and that did not work at all, the paints just completely cracked and what not when they dried and she was not able to reactivate them so she contacted Arteza about it and they apparently told her that their tube watercolors are not supposed to be used like that (which is a bummer), just thought you might wanna know. However I can't say that from personal experience since I have never tried them.

It's one of my favorite brown watercolor I own. All the blues/greens and the purple are extremely chalky, they always cover lineart. The bumblebee yellow and citrus orange are super vibrant and I enjoy painting with them even if they are a bit chalky. The other colors are good. Not my favorite palette but fun nonetheless. My favorite Prima Marketing palette so far has been the Woodlands (I also have Shimmering Lights), once again based on my personal taste. I love talking about art supplies hope this wasn't rude to jump in like that.

I'm one of those people that got send a 60tube set of watercolors to try out and I gave my honest review of them. Not all artist that get send the supplies are excited about them! I love you guys but that's kind of a quick assumption... yes more people enjoy the fact that they're free. But most people that are excited about them haven't tried good watercolors before lol. There are very honest and critical reviews of Arteza too, even by the people who got send the supplies. The paints weren't *terrible* but they were pretty chalky and dry up very crispy so you can't put them into pans. They were also super opague which gave some troubles too. (They're basically all mixed with white) Sooooo not the best watercolor paints and 60 tubes is just way too much. If I were you guys I wouldn't get them, but instead try maybe Van Gogh watercolors if you want an affordable quality watercolor. I prefer them over Cotman, as they're way more vibrant and lightfast. I don't hear a lot about them on yt but I love them personally. Also you guys should try Ecoline (from the dutch brand Talens) sometime! It's the lovechild of ink and watercolor and I think Steph would love them (and they also have really pastel colors for Adamo) 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Refilling the pans with Arteza tubes may not be the best idea. Most of the reviews I've seen say that they don't reactivate as well as the Arteza pans when dried into a palette. You'd probably be better off refilling with a tube of Cotman, Van Gough, or some other student grade paint.
