I never thought about this but what is Danny and David's history?!?! I want a draw my life, I dont even know if they lived in Korea their whole life if they are brothers or lovers...I know nothing... and I've been faithfully watching for years. (Only 1 and a half)

They aren't brothers. If you've been watching for a year I feel like you would know since they said this not too long ago. Danny, if I'm not mistaken, spent time studying in Canada and China and that's why he knows how to speak English. David studied in the U.S if I remember correctly. Honestly, seeing her content she probably get send these kind of messages all of the time. If they're creepy, she deletes them, ignores them. But knowing homeboy's history with watching hidden sex cameras and the way he talks about women... The creep factor got through the roof; and let's not forget that he was supposed to be reflecting . I understand your point of view for the DMs, when I read about it, I thought it was ridiculous that THIS is why he had to quit the group and not you know.... However, you can't help to view all of his actions with women, like those DMs, as weirdly sexual. As a woman, I wouldn't want to be involved with him in the slightest either

Ideally produce 101 would be a platform created to make a fair platform for idol trainees. But the world revolves around money whether we would like it to or not. The Produce 101 staff is trying to entertain people and make profit off of it. I definitely agree that they probably have a rough idea who is going to be in the group before the show starts.

The rough idea approach isnt wrong, they look at statics to deem who would pool in the most viewers and give them more screentime. Its only when they see a massive spike in a trainee fan count midway, they will get more air. Its only natural in this cruel survival show of 101, that the one fail to have a well known company, or havent caught interest in the public by the first ep will fail. Produce 101 is an instant boy group to make money, they dont have time to see growth in popularity.

American Idol is “rigged”-most reality shows are. It is hard to produce an audition show in a timely manner and make it entertaining. If the purpose of Produce 101 was to actually identify talent they wouldn’t just disband groups a year after debut.

I have to agree with Danny on the Produce thing For example the 4th season of Produce X 101 Kim Yohan (center in X1) got screen time from the very first beginning and was in the top 10 the whole time It was obvious that he would debut. Same goes for Son Dongpyo and Song Hyeongjun. They got a lot of screen time because they were cute and innocent. Kim Wooseok is also a good example. He's handsome and already had his debut in UP10TION which means he has a big fanbase. But there are some exceptions (Idk if it's just this year) For example Lee Hangyul or Cho Seungyoun who got almost no screen time in the very beginning and had to work themselves up in Top 20. Seungyoun went from rank 67 to rank 5 and that mostly because he's loud, extra and has a lot of talents I still can't explain how Hangyul made it since he really wasn't popular. And then there is Kang Minhee. The song Pretty Girl saved him. He was the main vocalist and he was in a team with only cute and popular trainee's. Without Pretty Girl he would have been out. There are a lot of cases which I could talk a lot about but that would take too long. Summarized: I also think that they knew that some trainees would make it into the final line up (the visuals mostly) but I also think that there are some trainee's who worked themselves up and gain attention and screen time. Also sorry for grammar or spelling mistakes. English is not my first language

What I would like to know is other comments she got on that particular video. Did others slide into her DM's and leave the same type of comments, but since they were not famous she didn't highlight them? Also this definitely may be cultural difference but I don't put stock in those 'reflecting' statements these Korean celebrities use when caught in acts the public find distasteful. Unless you are getting professional help to understand why you do those things and then learn how to stop doing them, then all that 'reflecting' is bullshit and you're just waiting for the public to forgive and forget. Once they have you just go back to being you but sneakier so you don't get caught.
@SirenRising

kayjmac42 if she did get similar messages from others she didn’t highlight them because she doesn’t know if they have a history of being perverts & watching illegal spycams that were filmed without the woman’s consent. With his past actions in mind it’s right to be wary of him & his intentions esp when she ignored him the first time & he comes back messaging her again. Public is probably outraged because he was allowed to get away with his disgusting behavior months ago “to reflect” but he’s still out here acting like a creep. So now he has to be fired. Should’ve been fired & jailed originally instead of being allowed to “reflect”

That's the same thing as what all talent shows do like Britain's got talent - there are first video auditions because of course the judges cant judge tens of thousands of people so it has to be slimmed down to people who are really talented, have potential or are really bad to make the show more entertaining/ funny. The point of TV shows is to provide entertainment so of course they're gonna choose people who would make the show more entertaining.

Also.....I watched some video some time ago that was talking about some girl singer that apparently lost against Somi in one of such shows despite having better vocals by far. Some theories were that the votes were a bit rigged because the producers were scared of the public's reaction if the other singer won against Somi (cause apparently Somi has a lot of passionate fans). I don't know it that is true but if it is, it's super sad. I mean having a fan base is crucial of course but the vocal ability should still come first in my opinion. If it's a TALENT competition, they should judge them on their talent not popularity.

I am so glad they created that channel because when I first got into kpop in 1998-99 it was so hard to find anything about kpop because there wasn't youtube or easy access to performances for international fans on the internet so definitely going to check that channel out . I think some of the audition programs are rigged to an extent, but how much differs between the show. Some shows have pretty obvious vote rigging but editing of shows and choice of participants also is targeted to the type of group they want. If you watch the produce series you can pretty much guess early on who is in the final group based on screen time.

I think that woman was brave to release the dm to protect other women. Women need to protect each other from sexual assault and predatory behavior. The victims are still testifying in court. The chatroom participants should be either jailed or live privately to reflect.

Desy Putri it’s weird that a man who allegedly got prostitutes and admittedly was in a group chat watching spy cameras with alleged unconscious victims. is now social media shooting his shot. To my knowledge those unconscious/rape victims are allegedly still in court testifying. It’s weird that this brave women had to defend herself when she felt uncomfortable or triggered with this man’s unwanted, unanswered dms due to his past predatory behavior. We don’t know how she protects herself on a daily basis against predators so let’s not assume. But what is really weird is society is so quick to blame the women due to her appearance and objectify her saying she deserves harassing comments based on her content. Nobody deserve to be harassed. Comparatively making light about the situation just like in the infamous chatroom. That’s why victims of assault don’t speak up. God bless all the victims, including her. She is worth defending ,this ex-cnblue lee whatever his name idiot is not. He can live privately now and then God be his final judge.

I have been into Kpop since I was 12 now I am 23 and still into it. I think the audition programs are more or less pre-planned I mean at the end of the day it’s just for entertainment and to make money. But at the same time as viewers we do get the opportunity to get glims of some well talented trainees that unfortunately don’t make it but at least it’s some sort of a platform for them to be known and some do gain popularity due to the support of the online fans. It’s it’s a bit of a mix feelings for me tbh like it’s sad but at the same time I get to find gems that I fall in love with. DKDK♥️♥️

Because often times i find myself enjoying the produce series a lot and never thought about how could they produce a live/ongoing series with coherent storyline throughout the whole series. When danny said that, all the "unfair", "biased" cutscenes(that people tends to complain a lot, too lol) starting to make sense. You can find more than 80% of the trainees that gets lots of screentime always end up in the debut group. Its quite fascinating how these producers play with our emotions just like that lol.

Hahahah "carefully moderate"! But yes I agree on the fact that the editing would be deffinitely easier if they know whos going to win. Especially coming from Cj. And that is probably a reason for the second I.O.I still had a show. Cause maybe some of the "planned" final IOI membets didnt made it to the final. And people still connencted to them (possible example: g-idle's soyeon).

It makes sense to focus on the talent or the people that will be more interesting (interesting back stories, popular with vieweres.) Also, if you notice, certain trainees (for example, Kang Daniel) got not a lot of camera time in the first couple episodes, but starts to get a lot more once the producers probably realized he was popular and people wanted to see him. Some trainees who didnt make it also got a lot of camera time, so I think its more to do with trying to show more of the issue makers or popular trainees rather than only the trainees they know will make it into the final lineup. I think it has elements of manipulation but I do think it cannot be 100% rigged. I mean if the popular vote didnt affect the final lineup, I dont think the final lineup would have been as popular as they were.

David's innocent perspective may seem very naive, but as a 60 year old, I am happy to see a young person who is not jaded. (But all these audition shows, in the US especially, are manipulated for views.) I feel bad for LJH. Young men everywhere do stupid things, especially when in groups. In the US, what he has done would be worthy of a slap on the wrist; not the destruction of his career. Maybe all countries need to educate youth about appropriate boundaries. As for the young woman, I think what he said could not possibly have genuinely offended her. She is the one who was deriding herself, he (and I am sure many others) was trying to say supportive things. Thanks for the good content and debate, guys!

I totally agree with Danny about the Audition shows. It’s obvious that they create stories about people and edit it to make it entertaining. And that makes the votes shift to the people who they show more... and if they see someone is gaining popularity for some reason, they will start editing it so that people will have more screen time and people will be happy about it. Audition shows could only be fair if they were live without anybody editing it, since these Korean shows are pre recorded and sometimes were recorded weeks before, they will definitely have to edit to make a interesting story to the audience.

14:00 Im shook. I agree that what he said to the KZbinr is not bad. However, the reason why the girl felt harassed and everybody is being harsh on him is because of his past behavior. He is a grown adult saying and doing unacceptable things for years. He is suddenly not gonna become a better person. He showed us what he capable is and thats why girls are scared and as they or the woman in this case should. I had chills in my bones when Lee Jonghyun and everyone in Seungri’s group chat were laughing, talking and ADMITTING about RAPE as if it was normal. So, I really really do not understand how he still was in the group and got the oppurtunity to “reflect.” Its saddening and scary that only two people from the group chat are facing trial.

This video was hilarious. I needed that laugh. People are suckers for Nostalgia so I'm not surprised that channel is doing so well. I was with Danny about Produce 101. They are looking for talent that will make viewers tune in and cause drama and such for ratings. Like with American Idol, the singers have to go thru the producers first before they go thru to judges. And the producers will let the really bad singers on because it will make good TV. Maybe Produce 101 shouldn't make it so obvious next time. 😂 Danny that white shirt looks good on you. Another great episode guys!

I slightly agree with Danny on the audition programming. Not just in Kpop / Korea but in America too: American Idol, AGT, World of Dance every auditioning show has preferences for who they allow in the show. Like the sad story will be picked over the good singer with no juicy background...even in the Voice the singers are usually ones who have been in the industry longer and are known to bring a fan base. It’s an entertainment platform before it’s an opportunity show/audition program. & DM’ng someone based on the physical attributes they themselves have pointed out is literally not an issue. I think his past wrongs made everyone judge him more harshly on something that’s pretty normal & not, I think, harassment. Great video! You guys are a little blurry tho 🤔😊

regarding talent shows, it is impossible to share the screen time equally between 101 trainees. I think during auditions producers are making a wild guess on who will become popular but also they want to show whatever is entertaining so it kinda is as well up to the contestant to show "charm" and talent that is entertaining. After first episodes i think they look at the feedback on who's popular and then redistribute the screen time accordingly. In terms of voting I think it is weird for ppl to wonder if it's rigged when the reaction i've seen are "best lineup ever''..

They do start on an equal footing, but the audience can see talent just as much as the producers beforehand. The talented ones may get more edited air time if a producer likes them, but there are always voting surprises too. The absolute rigged ones are things like #MAMA when certain nominees should obviously win, but suddenly don't get votes on the board bc they aren't attending the award show that year. Like #Zico last year who had an amazing year but wasn't attending... or #IU the year before... or #BlackPink in 2018...

You are right. It is hard for 101 trainees to have enough screen time for an hour episode. If you wanted it to be fair, the show have to have three hours per episode just to show everyone. IMO, All the trainees were doomed from the start. Some of the debut line did not get any screen time, and they made it. Producers look at the voting page and see which trainees are handsome/pretty. Is it really Mnet or the Producers fault? Sure, Mnet could have manipulated the votes, but do not punished the final line ups. They all deserves it. As for MAMA, that award show is rigging everyone. That is based on how big the groups fandom is. When your fandom is small, then there is not a chance to win any of those awards. Which is sad, because some groups deserve better.

This has always been the formula of audition shows. If you look at American Idol where millions come. They focus the screen time on some good ones and some bad ones but gradually they focus on 50 that goes into the elimination rounds. If you look back you can see singers like Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert , they have a spark and talent was league's ahead of the others.

First of all “Thirst-DMing” is freaking gold so I’m using it. I do think that it was blown out of proportion in terms of the content of what he said but I can also understand how it is a sensitive time and he should be on like “sexual lockdown-male-chastity-belt mentality” (to the public anyways). I don’t watch her channel but if you’re a public figure and make a video wearing a swimsuit you should maybe expect comments that might make you feel uncomfortable. It’s not right by any means but you have to have enough sense to anticipate something like that or worse... Second, in regards to audition shows I agree that it SHOULD be about equality and fairness but the reality is that the show producers probably already know who’s gonna win. The problem with shows that have a long run is that it tends to lose that organic nature it stared out with and becomes extremely commercialized-it kind of “loses its magic” (in America: American Idol & So You Think You Can Dance have become this way in my opinion)

Based on SIXTEEN, I think they are rigged to a certain point... there are members who are certainly going to make it, but then there are some that have a chance to catch the audience's eyes and then they make it based on the show for real... but yeah, I really believe some of them are certain for the group no matter what, even before the show starts.

Also I agree that audition programs are planned, even in the US. I auditioned for the X Factor season 3 personally a few years ago and the production team only interviewed/gave more screen time to people that fit a specific image that they knew would draw people. I'm sure in the case of these idol audition shows as well it's nothing personal, just that the production team has an agenda to get more viewership and they do what they think will get them a more cohesive narrative to tell
