Delilah has no qualms harming children. Laudna would never consider doing so. That was Delilah’s big mistake, trying to convince Laudna that she should just kill Ashton to get that shard, but mentioning that Ashton is a child… something that Laudna loves. “Love is pain, but also warmth.” Thus why she made that doll. She’s still hurting and trying to understand… just as a child does. Thus her mental reversion to her own safe space of acting child-like, which is just heartbreaking. That, and even in her vulnerable state, she challenged Delilah to justify herself, listing how everyone who’s had loved ones kept losing them and thus kept hurting. Also… “Matilda is dead. You are something more.” Yes. Because YOU DID THAT TO HER, DELILAH. And that stupid necromancer is too bound by her undying love for Sylas that she would never consider just… letting go. She thinks that hurting everyone is worth the pain of the love she feels. And thus everyone suffers because she just can’t bear to be without him. Yeah, everyone’s fracturing… but it was bound to happen. They kept burying their issues beneath the more pressing matters. Ashton’s stunt was the catalyst for this chain reaction that… frankly was necessary for everyone to finally realize that “wait. we can’t go to the moon like this. Otherwise we’ll just tear each other apart like the powder kegs we are. We need to slow down and defuse.” Thus going to the Feywild was the best play. One could say that their earliest attempt at laying it all on the table way back in Episode 6 with “What the fuck is up with that” ultimately backfired. it wasn’t enough to get them on the same page after all. They need proper time to do so, and the panic of the Solstice left them with no real time to process. And good on Laudna suggesting that no one tell her where the shard is. Better to keep it out of sight so as to avoid the temptation.
