Hi mate, I’ve got one also, brought in also 2013, the bottled fuel lasts around 2hrs burn time but the heat is very good, back then it was around £4 a bottle and you get 2 and a half fires out of it, now the bottled fuel is £7, but good for an emergency which I lit 2days ago, no carbon monoxide either, absolutely nothing, as I said an emergency usage👍🏻 It’s a bit dodgy putting a large bottle inside the fire to fill where the fluid goes, I transferred carefully the fluid into a small squeezy bottle fairy liquid bottle so you can easily put the fluid in better so it doesn’t spill, 👍🏻

I’ve recently got one. Mine is a 2.5kw burner. It is about £7 a bottle but if you buy over 12 bottles they normally get reduced to about £3.50 a bottle. One litre bottle let’s ours burn for about 4 hours. It’s great and warms the room up great.😊

i was watching another channel yesterday, a review and look at a Diesel heater, looked quite impressive, i am getting one for my shed. was almost tempted to get one for the bathroom, now i am going to look into these, never thought about bioethanol as heat, always thought of it as decorative.

You can even get these bioethanol fires in the style of wood burning stoves. I have been researching because I want a fireplace in my main living room and I dont gave a chimney or flu, so I have researched bioethanol. The only thing with bioethanol is the heat output on cheaper models isn't that great. If you want good output the upfront cost is upwards of 3k, but it is eco friendly and to get a decent wood burning stove and have work done to vent it would cost similar and be disruptive. I still havent made a decision though 😂

Hi there, I have a bio ethanol fire, it’s a mid range size, which same as you I don’t have a chimney and a proper fire place, I’ve only got the screw in the wall fire place mantle frame the bottom on the floor is a marble rectangle slab and the backing to the fire place has got a heat proof board, on the other side of the wall is next doors garage, so it’s very limited what can be done, the mid size fire which you may have to assemble yourself which I did way back. basically had the fire now for around 9/10 years and it’s done the job well, especially when the old boiler was taken out to change to a new one way back. The fire itself also has tiny feet so it’s off the floor, the fuel has to be transferred to a smaller squeezable bottle like a small fairy liquid bottle this saves spillages, and I light the fluid with a bbq lighter which is around 10” long, just before you lit the reservoir of fluid check all around the fire place for flammable materials the heat once the fire is going fully around 2mins, it generates around 3foot of projected heat which is nice, well the cat loved it too, and the heat burn time is just under 2hrs obviously for larger fires you can put more fluid in and up the burn time… hope this information is helpful.

Thanks, Always a professional education Al. Now I see you a time traveller! After saying we going back in time >> I couldn't help giggle, as you lit fire @ 00:04:07 , you had already said it be minutes for you & seconds for us as you skip the tape >back in 2013. 😁 is it just me that noticed? I'm on new pain pills for sciatica & a bit woo-woo.😳 ~ Never seen one of these stoves before. Right now I'm hunting for the best long lasting tea lights! Asda are winning. Cheers to you, Jan & your obviously musical family. 🎵😻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

One very practical use of bioethanol I've found is cooking on a trangia stove in my van, without the stink of meths nor the need for a chimney.

I have one in my living room, I also have my house thermostat in the living room. Overnight my central heating is set to low (9 degrees) and 7am to 19 degrees. However the central heating takes hours to go from about 15 degrees (which the house drops to overnight) to 19 degrees. So, to speed up and use less gas in the mornings, I start my bio fireplace. Brings the temp up quickly and then the temp is maintained by the central heating, costing less overall.

@@dereton33 Happy to do so. The result is not only a cost saving, but the main room we 'live in' is at the set temperature, the rest of the house which we 'pass through' is a bit cooler.

Odourless??? You're kidding. They do smell, was the most disappointing part of it. Heat output is good however but as always, something gets more popular and the price goes up. That said, I still use it two years on. B &Q sell bottles of it, but not sure of the quality and if it has something to do with the smell

I use eko fuel. It’s good brand. The b and q stuff is expensive and not so great I believe. We have an automatic burner so can’t use the frangranced bio fuel so we get that slight smell. But for manual ones you can use the fragranced ones. So may be worth a try.
