That kills me when people do that and they always wanna cry to the manager that the server was rude, but they were rude to staff BEFORE you had an issue with the food. We had Shrimp and Grits on our menu. The lady ordered it, but was upset that there was an egg on it, which the menu CLEARLY stated egg came with it. We had to take it back and off the check. Today, I had a teen order PLAIN pancakes, but was perplexed that she didn't get powdered sugar on them. I told her when you specifically said PLAIN, that's how we serve it. I don't know why people do that. If you say "I want it plain", WHY would YOU think we'd serve it with powdered sugar when that is NOT what you asked for?

I do get annoyed when I see this type of comment. Women like this don’t give us a bad name unless you accept that the actions of others is a reflection of you. As a black woman I do not accept their actions as my reflection and encourage you to do the same and correct it when you hear others saying that this makes us look bad whatever the situation may be. We have to stop generalizing ourselves and taking on the actions of others. Other races don’t do that on the level that we do so yes those women look bad trying to scam a meal but in no way does that make me look bad just because we are the same race

Piece of advice: If you really have to go anywhere with your cousins in the future, do exactly what you did again, and apologize for their misconduct. I will guarantee you that the next time you go there by yourself, you will treated with the utmost of kindness. ( the same thing you went through, I did myself with a date after the club)

My friends And I were at a restaurant and when we were leaving they decided to undertip the waitress because of a I think she didn't refill their water quickly enough. They believe that under tipping someone was how you taught them how to be better at their job. I said oh but how is she know why she was being undertipped or even that she was being undertipped. You never complained You smiled in her face the entire time I didn't even know She wasn't feeling the water glasses up fast enough. You had a Coke. And you had something else. So we left I took my cash cuz I'm the poor friend up to where she was by the bar and I handed her the difference and I told her sweetie they undertipped you because you didn't feel the water glasses up fast enough but I thought you should know since you did tell us that you were a new waiter here's the difference of your tip. And I walked away. It was so embarrassed they were like oh my God I can't believe you just did that. You You so crazy oh my God you're so wild. And I was thinking that you know I'm your low class country cousin. I can't even believe you brought me out to this fancy restaurant. Lol

If it was good enough to eat, it's good enough to pay for. Like if there is something wrong and the manager decides to comp your meal that's one thing, but to specifically ask to not pay is ludicrous. The only time it's acceptable to refuse payment is if the food is inedible.

My mother and Gran parents taught me manners saying please and thank you, yes ma'am no ma'am no sir yes sir, good morning, hello , look at them when they are speaking to you. I was raised in the 80's around the older generation they didn't take no mess from you. You don't get in grown ups conversations. Many years ago, I had a west African friend who did traditional African hairstyles with braids and things. She was sooooooooo talented. I came to her shop one day to say hello and she was in tears. She explain to me that she came here for a better life and to make more money than she would where she was from. She proceeded to say that “my African sisters and brothers here don’t understand that everyone’s head is shaped differently and sometimes the patterns don’t quite match the photos they bring. apparently at least three times a week someone would demand to get her work for free or discounted and she even provided the hair. She told me that no matter how hard she tried she could never make them happy and she couldn’t wait to go back home. I think about her very often and wonder how she’s doing now.

I'm white and can tell you and your friend, that a LOT of women have EXTREMELY unrealistic standards and desired outcomes. I've watched women ask for hairstyles they didn't have anywhere NEARLY enough hair to accomplish. As an RN, I've experienced female patients equally as ridiculous. Dude out of nowhere just said " might not like your skin colour but them black folks in my area pay good money on tips, can't put nothing in their food or we lose a good tipper" So I practiced it I give my tips in halves, I ask it the waiter who giving me food is the one who will wait on me and start from giving the tip of they are, the expectation of me giving more let's them serve better too

I believe her. Yesterday I was in the nail salon where lots of black women reside. This lady was waiting with her daughter to be served but the attendant served someone before who came after her. I could tell she was about to go off. I turned to her softly and said he honestly probably didn’t realize you were here first. She about to snap and just leave, but I told her to go let him know before he started the other girls service. She put her baby girl down on the chair and went and spoke to him. When she came back for her daughter I asked her if it was resolved and with a calm smile she said yes. Sometimes it’s good to step in and calm things down. She was honestly probably a tired mama.

She is 100% NOT exaggerating or lying!-I despise going out to eat with my mother or sister. They are insanely picky and annoying at restaurants. I always wondered if women who were good cooks were like that when they ate out. I am not a cook, so I am usually just thankful someone else is preparing food for me. 🤔

As a black woman, I was a server and bartender for many years and I'd like to say black women are the absolute hardest guests I've ever had to deal with. And usually they don't tip well. Unfortunately. It's a shame and to combat this stereotype I'm very conscious of how I treat service industry people AND I over tip.

There is truth here. My mom is very soft, sweet, older, white Jewish lady and she had her first ever black client at her beauty spa. Right at the start she accused my mom of racism for not having black models which led to lots of complaints and nastiness and eventually the lady say she deserved it for free and said it was shit and shouldn't cost her because of racism which my mom knew was coming. It's a big problem that causes people to not even want to deal with anyone like that. I think calling it out not only stops it but separates you from those types. We all know its not all BW but it does hurt all BW because its hard to approach someone who'll most likely be cruel and call you racist for disagreeing. Its hard to want to risk being humiliated or attacked when its easier to just avoid them and talk with people who won't call me names. I hate that because it really isn't fair to good-natured, loving BW, which is why it needs to be addressed

My son n law was a Manager of a restaurant. He had a big party of black people that came in and they were eating like that and complaining about their food so he talked to them and he said he would refund their money. You don't have to apologize for these unapologetically deceitful broke heffas. I took a woman out and she suggested that we could probably get off from paying the bill because the drinks were undoubtedly watered-down. I asked the server to taste the drinks but she trusted me and had them made again. The overall service and food was great but the whole time my date kept harping on the missed opportunity to weasel out on the bill. I told her that what she was trying to do reinforced a stereotype about black people. I left a 40% tip just to let the establishment know that we all aren't like that. Needless to say i never asked her out again.

I was a Manager of a big Hotel. People asked for a AARP discount which is fine. Then they ask for a cheaper room and I always explained that those rooms are discounted because they are by the Vending, Ice Machine and Elevators. Then when they get to Check Out the next morning they complain and are so argumentive while I have a line of Business Men and Women waiting in line and on a schedule. I just give the room to them. Many times they are already booked at one of our other Hotels for the same night they checked out. When they get to the next Hotel we tell them those cheap rooms are are already taken and they are given rooms that they don't have noise. They run that racket every where they go. My son is a Executive Chef so I want to say that you earned my respect for being a cook. It is a very hard job. Thank you for your years serving the public.

One of my aunt's is the same way. White progressive woman. I absolutely hated going out to eat with her at family get togethers because I knew she would always find something to complain about to the wait staff. Side note, we got together as a family for the first time at Christmas in numerous years. She told one of my cousin's son's to take off his hat, and another cousin to take his off. They were annoyed, but did it. I warned my sister when I let them in at the front door of my aunt's apartment building about the hat's. In case my brother in law, and future brother in law were wearing ones. Which of course they were. When my aunt told them to take their hat's off, one of my sisters went off on her lol. Telling her things like this is exactly why people don't want to get together, yet she complains nobody wants to get together anymore. Progressive people, especially women, expecting traditional values from men is text book double standards, and hypocrisy at it's best. Avoid such people in your personal life the best you can. I worked retail for years, I understand you can't avoid them at work, especially in the restaurant industry. P.S. This aunt was a former waitress herself. Which always made it more perplexing to me on how she treated the wait staff.

I was out with a black female friend some years ago. She complained about everything starting with the placement of the salt and pepper shakers, to the way the napkin was folded, to the size of the plates, to the French fries. Meanwhile, I had no complaints at all. My food was great, the black male waiter was so kind and efficient! I told him right in front of her that I was completely satisfied, and asked him to please not spit in my food. He gave me a knowing chuckle. I left him a big tip. Yes, sometimes we can be extra...
