I bought fourth wing because of the hype and did not finish it. I did that with Acotar too.

I read acotar before knowing it was hyped and enjoyed it. It was a fun read and then I set it aside. I've seen been drowning in reactions of "best books I've ever read!" And I think these reviews are from people who maybe haven't read a lot of adult fantasy novels. Anyone who has read ACOTAR or something from Mercedes Lackey or Brandon Sanderson just knows it can't compare. But just have fun with books!

Booktube as it is now has been swaying me to maybe buy some books that you have now saved me from touching! Plus a couple I’ve been sitting on too long and should open. I thank you 🙏🏼 ❤

"If Gossip Girl was a book series", it's based on one! Don't read it, was my favourite when I was an early teenager in the early 2000s and that's all you need to know about it! Except maybe for "Gossip Girl: Psycho Killer", which is the first novel re-imagined as a horror slasher by the same author

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo destroyed my existence in the greatest way. 6/5 stars😭💜 (I also love Lisa Jewell. I see how some of the darker elements of her writing could garner some criticism, but I appreciate her writing so much. Within the darker elements of the stories tend to be some genuine characterization that I can't put down)

Yes! I still don’t understand the hype over Fourth Wing.

I still haven’t read it and now I feel like its too late 😭

@@angelikascorner You’re not missing out. Like I said it’s over hyped. Besides the bad writing. The author doesn’t have any original ideas you haven’t read in other sci-fi fantasy novels. This particular book seemed to borrow ideas from 2 other books if not more.

you didn’t like Powerless too? Omg, I never find people who dislike that book. My big issue was that it’s advertised as enemies to lovers when it’s not that at all, and feels really insta attraction based, especially from Kai

As someone who loves powerless I'm having the opposite problem. I only see people hating it.
@Bookalicious17174 ай бұрын
@@de5072 it definitely wasn’t a horrible book or anything, just overhyped for me. I know a lot of other popular Booktubers absolutely adore it though

it was so clearly inspired by red queen (which isn’t even that good tbh) and the hunger games that it feels icky even reading it

If you like Every Summer After you’ll LOVE Meet Me at the Lake. It’s the best Carly Fortune. I agreed with literally everything you said and I think you’d love it. Also the Part of Your World trilogy by Abby Jimenez. Scratched the Emily Henry itch for sure cause she’s my favorite.

I can't tell if Evelyn Hugo just wasn't for me or if I just didn't enjoy it because i was in a reading slump when i read it

I can see why someone wouldn't like it, even though I love it! If you're still interested, I'd say give it another shot and DNF if it doesn't hit

I dunno if booktok books are any worse that the supermarket chart books of the past (I've bought some pretty bad books in supermarkets that are apparently best sellers)

I honestly really like Riley Sagers books and I dnfd The House Across the Lake. Def his worst book so far and I've read all of them but two. His characters are not all "crazy" is really often clever women who are getting gaslighted by everyone around them but end up being right, which feels very accurate to reality

I don’t understand the hype for Beach Read. At least Fourth Wing and ACOTAR are fun (specifically ACOMAF). Beach read felt like false advertising to me. Same with It Ends with Us. They should have both been classified and marketed as Women’s fiction instead of romance.

LA is an instant buy author for me...I'll never reread The Fine Print. Idk what she was thinking with that tbh. The other two books were so much better and the Lakefront Billionaires series is chef's kiss. The only other book I don't like by her is Collided bc the FMC is such an "I'm not like other girls bc I like star wars, not disney princesses" pick me but I'm forcing myself to not skip it when I reread the Dirty Air series next month
