I always thought those were pretty cool . My back or hips wouldn't let me do something like that anymore . That's going to be a awesome garden spot next spring . Thanks for sharing with us !

Thanks. We finally got some rain, too! We have had like 1.5" in the past day or so, which is more than we've had in months. I sure hope you got some of it.

I have thought about getting one before when I see them being used by others. I will watch and see how this does for you next year! Thanks, amigo!

I think you'd like it. They do a good job of breaking up the clay soils we have here in the midwest.

I thought it looked like a Meadow Creature....what I have....such good exercise.....I have rocky clay northern middle Tennessee soil on a 10% grade.....did a fantastic job for my fall garden...getting ready to prep some more areas to overwinter.....using gypsum to help break up the clay as well as lime.....adding back in acidifiers for blueberries and potatoes.....beautiful garden....

That's a good tip about gypsum to break up the clay. I've been reading up on it this evening and it sounds like it really works! I'll have to see if the local grain elevator carries it in bulk.

@@smallfarmsurvival4026 could only find ít at big city co-op, not small town where I live....it supposedly helps break up the clay without altering ph.....

That's a very cool fork. You won't be planting anything for winter?

We have lettuce, radishes and kale going right now, but they are in raised beds. It gets way too cold here to grow anything over winter. This garden will get to sleep until early April.

I think they are! I have a small fork I can use here and it does a great job. Once I get more land cleared and working it may be something I invest in. I like what they do! Aeration and loosing up the ground is awesome!

Yes, I like regular garden forks as well. I use them to turn over the soil in the raised beds and barrels. Is your soil there heavy clay??

@@smallfarmsurvival4026 Some clay deeper down, mine is all kinds. So much has been done and I will be building soil as well. But those are great tools!

NO!!! A tractor rototiller would work much better! If your 3-point rototiller doesn't do that good of a job you must have a really crummy one! I even had a Howard Jem walk behind rototiller that weighed about 700 lb that would do a lot better job than that. And I could do several acres a day with it and it would look glassy smooth and beautiful when I'm done without any footprints or tire tracks. The Howard Jem videos on KZbin are done by amateurs that don't know how to use the machine to its full advantage and they leave the ground looking terrible! In fact I have not found any rototilling videos on KZbin that leave the ground looking nice. Seems like almost everyone wants to drive around with the tailboard up in the air so that the rototiller looks like it's throwing poop all over the field! In fact my cousin used tol work for someone who had a Howard Jem and would hire kids to pick up the big claude's from the job and throw them in the back of his pickup truck. In other words he was stealing topsoil from all of his customers! He would have been better off just buying his own topsoil instead of paying the kids to pick up the dirt clods and steal it from the customers! If you leave the tailboard up it just scatters stuff before it has a chance to get broken up! Which means you have to go over it several times. Which is a huge waste of time if you don't do it right the first time. Use your lowest gear and run the engine at maximum rpm, and for God's sake keep the tailboard down, that's your butter knife that spread it out smooth!!! And it has to be done when there's the right amount of moisture in the dirt and it's not muddy and it's not too dry or dusty.
