Some chicken fries lore for ya: BK Chicken Fries were introduced in 2005 as part of a menu expansion that was designed to cater to a more adult demographic looking for dishes that went beyond the standard fast-food fare. At the time of the introduction, Burger King was targeting a demographic group it identified as the "super fan", a group consisting of males between the ages of 18-34 that ate at fast food restaurants several times a week. Additionally, the chain was also adding other fare such as its TenderGrill, TenderCrisp and Angus sandwiches, that were designed to offer more complex menu items that would raise average check prices and expand the breadth of its offerings in the fast-food market place. They were discontinued in the US in January 2012, but continued to be sold in some markets, such as Italy. In August 2014, they were reintroduced for a limited-time offering (LTO) in North America, leading to their permanent re-addition to the menu in March 2015 in over 30 countries globally.

Chicken fries were a huge part of my childhood, being my favorite item to get at Burger King. I remember my mum bringing me and my brother combos and we were the happiest as we played on our Nintendo DS's. Awesome review

Can confirm, I worked at Burger King in like 2015-16 and in that time they had spicy chicken fries, jalapeño chicken fries, the sinful macaroni bite things, hot dogs (perfect for burger King tbh; the broiler is the perfect thing to make hot dogs with), and the whopper burrito things

Exactly, BK is a fast-food chain at the end of the day. If you're expecting high quality from a FAST FOOD place...you're better off going to a sit-down restaurant or picking up food from one than to expect it from chains like McDonald's or Burger King. And I've noticed the same thing when you mentioned that trend. The spicy nuggets I typically get with a Frosty Dr. Pepper float from Wendy's (the float's discontinued but ours still does it if you simply ask) have WAY more of a kick than the so called "ghost pepper wings" Popeyes had for a bit. If you're gonna promote a product with an ingredient that's supposed to be REALLY spicy, make sure it actually DOES have a good kick!

Interestingly, I think the equivalent of those here in the UK would be the Doritos® Chilli Heatwave Chicken Fries. Very similar, but instead of generic spicy seasoning, it's the powder from the Chilli Heatwave flavour of Dotiros which, over here, is the red bag (Nacho Cheese is orange).

I worked at Burger King in the 90's. I keep routing for them because the quality back then was above par but I feel like they ar at try hard level. Should delete extra menu items that keep failing and go back to the wopper and original chicken sandwich. In and Out has like 5 menu items. it's totally possible.

you know speaking of spice, every pepper is different theres alot of variables, I ate one Jalapeño and there was very little spice, ate another one weeks later and it was so much spicier, fresher crisper, juicier, there's a lot of range of capsasin in one particular pepper. I was bold and bought a pack of Habaneros at a health food store and I was like yeah man I can totally handle these, ate one raw when I got home and regretted that decision for 2 hours.

I equally appreciate that this is just a "Spicy" item. No "CAROLINA REAPER GHOST PEPPER HOT ONES DA BOMB-" It's just spicy. The lowered expectations honestly make it a better experience. Those spices are way way way too hot to be slapped on a casual fast food item, they know it for a fact and still do it just because people will fall for easy marketing. And BK themselves are no stranger to that.

Last month I tried the Spicy Nuggets at a BK in Mexico, they were advertised as Ghost Pepper. I was actually surprised when they were actually hot lol, it's rare because when a chain restaurant like bk, mcdonnalds, etc advertise something as spicy it is always pretty mild.
