I've had this model for 2 years now, and I love it. It was serviced this July to change the controller board for induction because the pans were not recognized so I could not cook anymore. The only cons I find is the fact that the bridge does not heat in the middle. It just manages the two left burners together, that's all.

I have this Cafe'. It's very nice. The two ovens are very useful, especially the top with how quickly it heats. The convection is nice to use, for the dishes it helps most. Makes great cookies that are gooey on the inside. I LOVE induction. Cleanup is a breeze. I'd say the biggest problems are: 1) There's only a rubber stop strip between the glass and the front facia preventing a boil over from shorting out the front control panel rendering it inoperable until it dries out, and it doesn't work all that well 2) The touch controls are finicky. They'll sometimes get confused and be stubborn to respond to touch, especially due to a waft of heat and humidity when opening the top oven door. 3) Wish it had "wings", or optional attachments, that some other slide-ins have. Would help to prevent crumbs and other cooking/prep debris from falling between the oven and the countertop. Bosch does this nicely by extending the glass just a bit to sit on top of the countertops.

Scary to think water boiling over could short out the controls--

I have heard that the oven is very noisy, especially when cooling down after you turn it off. How have you felt about the noise level?

@@halmorra Yeah, it is. About as loud as a microwave or hood fan on medium. I suppose it doesn't really bother me though.

This Cafe induction is so attractive and it looks promising. But do we have to have some friggin app to cook on it? I do NOT need or ever want to send text messages to my baking potatoes. Manufacturers need to go back to basics and STOP their obsession with apps for stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, and dryers. The Cafe lineup would be perfect if GE could just get back to basics, namely COOKERS that work without WiFi or any type of silly app. And bring out the Emerald Green in all the Cafe lineup - it's gorgeous.

Hey, Love your videos. Very informative. I am having an battle (in my head :)). Replacing my Kitchenaid Slide in 30" induction range. My biggest peeve with my kitchenade induction top is the controls being on the glass. When water drips off a lid or perhaps some moisture from cooking touches it, they auto shut off and, if you are not watching, it can totally mess up what you are cooking. I am considering the induction models: Cafe double oven, single oven, LG Single Overn, or perhaps the Bosch Reference unit. I see that Bosch has the controls under the glass. Should I expect the same moisture shut-off problem? How much lower is the middle shelf in a double oven than a single oven? The warmer draw below is useless to me. TIA

Which would you choose. Miele, Wolf or this GE Cafe. I realize Miele and Wolf are much more. Are they worth it? Just want the best one overall. Thx

Depends....Cafe is larger with two ovens and can be somewhat customized. Wolf and Miele are easier to use, especially Miele with steam. Your call here. We have a video on the Miele you should watch.

We've been considering this oven because of the double oven feature. Before this, we were considering a Bosch induction range with single convection oven and pairing it with an in-wall speed oven (for those quick reheats and quality pizza reheat). Would the top oven of this Cafe serve as a decent replacement for the speed oven due to size? If so, we could consider a convection-microwave to supplement the missing microwave functionality of the speed oven. Thoughts?
@YaleAppliance1
@YaleAppliance1 Жыл бұрын
Totally different products...Speed oven adds microwave functionality. The top oven of the Cafe is an oven only...depends on your needs and space.

I like this range a lot, especially because of the double ovens, but do not like the low to the ground bottom oven. I'm more leaning towards an induction cooktop with a double oven underneath. Would love to see a comparison the Cafe Duo Smart single wall oven vs. the GE Profile Smart double wall oven. Are there other double ovens the size of a single?

As always great video. You present the facts and let the consumer decide. I'm a gas range guy but I have to admit induction is a great alternative.

Curious why you're always talking about induction WATTAGE and not DIAMETER. Imo, its much more important to have the correct diameter element with induction than with other cooking technologies. And thats why I am strongly considering this model, two 9 inch bridged elements plus an 11 inch. Many other brands seem to just have two 6 inch elements, which isn't going to work very well for me if I want to, say, cook a pasta sauce, veggie, and boil pasta all at the same time.
@djea3589
@djea3589 3 ай бұрын
YES! so true. Better for the elements to be too large (with no missing donut int he middle) than too small. My Frigidaire supposedly had self adjusting diameters.....it was self adjusting power!. Can't cook with any pot over 8 inches without more than 50% of the pan being "cold". These elements need to be 12 inch and 8 inch MINIMUM. a 4 inch pot will still heat up on an 8 inch burner, an 8 inch will not necessarily heat up properly on a 6 inch burner.

MY GOD! the failure rate is almost 10% the first year? The average home uses their stove about 400 hours a year. That is a failure every 40 hours of use. No company that actually intends to make money or intends to support its warranty can be considered sustainable under these failure rates! They need to be closer to 1/8000 hours in order to last 20 years. Stoves and ranges historically last 20 to 40 years or even more! The only failures were cosmetic and things like heating elements.Under these numbers HALF will be disposed of or had major failures in less than 5 years! This makes the purchase the same as a LEASE of about $3 to $7 per day. That is insanely expensive! We need legislation to end this madness. Mandate some changes.

My biggest question is does it sing a stupid song when it preheats or the timer goes off, or does it just beep? I absolutely loathe the trend of everything having an end melody because they get stuck in my head and make me want to chuck myself off the roof. I have an LG oven that does this that's on the fritz and I refuse to replace it with another oven that sings instead of beeps. Absolute dealbreaker for me.
