Excellent work Matt! I did my workout today and I did push ups at the end, but I was too fatigue so I decided to do them on my knees and go for high reps. Man! My chest was on fire. Now watching this video it was a smart move.

I feel your pain there John, sometimes doing super high rep training can be a real eye opener.

awesome vid... been doing the gym 20 years, and light weights for about two. Turns out the body I always wanted I'd been training it wrong. Light weights gives me the body I'd always dreamed about. Took me 18 years, and much ego destruction, to reach such conclusion.

I recently scaled back and do hi-reps push ups on my knees (haven't done so for years ;) ). My chest was completely sore the next two days. When doing rather low reps (6-10) with more adv. levels I never got sore. I know that soreness isn't an automatic sign for muscle growth but I felt "painfully great" :D
@RedDeltaProject5 жыл бұрын
Great experience there Dave, and yes, soreness doesn't always mean a lot, but it does mean you've pushed your muscles beyond what they are used to doing to at least some degree.

I really like your reality approach to calisthenics and if sometimes is difficult face the fact that we have to wait and respect our limits in the other way is better respect yourself... I have a question... How integrate mobility in grind style calisthenics?
@RedDeltaProject5 жыл бұрын
Most calisthenics exercises are very good mobility exercises in their own right, so you may not need much additional work. but if you have an exercise or two you like to integrate, try doing it at the end of your workout.
@zachross29875 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more with how scaling back sometimes can be used as an advantage. In my last workout I just didn’t feel like loading weight plates to my pull-ups as i usually do. I decided to do body weight one and a half rep style pull-ups. My back was LIT up and it was a nice break for my joints. Most importantly, I was able to really reestablish the mind muscle connection.

So can I build a lean, athletic body just doing high reps and explosive work without adding weight?
@lukaslipkevicius36055 жыл бұрын
Hey, Matt, maybe you are planning to release a grind style calisthenics training programs or even mobile app with them. Would be really cool.

mate... im doing something wrong with pullups ;/ i feel it only in my foreamrs not in my back... i don't know because this if im doing good... i was on 0 reps now im on 3 only in a row. Im traing to do more shoulder movement but it seems not helping. Have y any advice?
@RedDeltaProject5 жыл бұрын
You may not be doing anything wrong at all, your grip may just be the weak link and it will take a bit more time until those muscels catch up with the rest of your pull chain. I say stay the course and you'll even out soon.
