Nice review, I appreciate the honest impressions. I've got a pair of chaps that seem to be good so far. Good sawing!

Great job Kevin !! I still have yet to use a chainsaw. I plan to soon, maybe I’ll look into some PPE before hand !!

@@KevinsDisobedience awesome will do thanks Kevin !! I recently picked up a used chainsaw from a co worker. It’s an ms180. I know it’s a little guy, but I never used a chainsaw before so I figured it would be a good starter saw. I’ve been itching to use it !!

I always use chaps for sake of making it a habit. They really do suck in the summer, but I get used to it after a while. My buddies think I’m crazy. I see a lot of arborist guys wearing the chainsaw pants, probably because chaps would get hung up on limbs when you’re up in a tree. It’s too bad they’re so hot, I think I’ll stick to chaps. Fortunately my first experience using saws was at a forestry school, so I was taught safe practices early on. Like you said, if it prevents one hospital trip it’s worth it. Glad to hear you got a pair.

Yep, don’t let the guys talk you out of it. If you’re comfortable in it, wear it. As for me, there’s no way I’d wear these in the summer.

Ive worn light pants and chaps for years, and cook in them when it gets warm out. It hurts to hear these pants are hot as well. I just ordered a pair of the new Clogger TreeCrew pants in hopes that they are cooler than pants\chaps or heavy pants. If they are so hot you cant wear them, they defeat the purpose. I'd return them and look for something lighter. Ive heard the Clogger DefenderPro pants are lighter. I just didnt have the budget to but them.

These are definitely too hot for me to wear in the summer, but man I wore them all winter and they are great for that because they keep you warm. But come spring, I’ll be wearing jeans again if I’m honest

@@KevinsDisobedience I wore my Clogger TreeCrew pants yesterday. The back calf area is a thin stretch material. The front with the chainsaw protection is a little thicker than a par of jeans. In 55deg weather, running around cutting and hauling, i didnt get hot at all. They were so comfortable, i forgot i was wearing chainsaw pants at all.

I now wear chainsaw pants rather than chaps. The primary reason is the chaps lack buttons for suspenders. When I wore chaps I spent an inordinate amount of time "adjusting" the chaps. The pants are well insulated for sure but that's not much of an issue in the fall, winter and spring around here. In the summer I wear athletic shorts under the pants and take the pants off and put them on as needed, e.g., moving the cut wood or loading it in the truck doesn't require chaps, but running the saw does. Yeah it slows me down but I don't care... nobody is paying me!

Yeah, they’re definitely a better option for the cooler months. I can’t imagine working all day in these during the summer. Be miserable.

It would really be interesting to see if those are truly safer than chaps. I like the way chaps come off of your body to clog/lock up the saw even faster.

Critical to point out class 1 trousers are pretty much useless for providing safety when using class 3 equivalent chainsaws. Always select the trousers to ensure their functionality surpasses the chain speed
