Are Converse Shoes good for skateboarding?

As a kid I skated on Pumas and Nike’s. I never even heard of vans until I was in college. When I got to college, I bought some converse high tops and skated to class more than I walked.. After college, I skated a little until I lost my board mostly just to the pool or the when walking my dog. Now that I am old, I rarely skate now, but when I do, I pretty much skate in my Adidas tennis shoes. Anyway, he’ll ya you can skate in allstars. Did it for 5 years and I they did everything I needed to do plus some.

I like cruising around on my cruiser board in my canvas chucks. I do agree the board feel makes it feel like your skating for the first time. And it really does let you skate around freely and enjoy the simple tricks. There are limitations with skating the standard chucks and that is what makes them a good shoe to skate when you are not i the mood to go hard af. with skating comfort and the style is what makes it feel good.

I recently started skating and the shoes I decided to wear down are used converse of any kind. In my town there are two very cheap thrift shops and if you are lucky and look out for them you'll find some converse for 2 bucks to 10 bucks.

if ur gonna skate in converse skate the converse one star it has better grip and its swayed its made for skateboarding while the chuck taylors arent made for skateboarding so they rip easily cause they are canvass chuck taylors are more of a everyday fashion shoe like u wear them everywhere but the one stars are just for skateboarding

Short answer yes Long answer no Let me explain. Canvas in my opinion is the best material for shoes and skating in canvas shoes feels good. But they rip easily. That’s why it is a good shoe; but it’s not a good shoe.

yea they are both lunarlon that is the material it is made out of but the difference would be how much was used of it and where it was (In skate shoes you would need more cushion in the heel vs the forefoot)

The 112, like many other popular Vans skate shoes are a mixture of canvas side panels with suede toe cap areas. Not sole canvas. 112 Pros have a suede front toe cap/box with side paneling that's canvas. The Sk8-Hi, Old Skools, and many other models implement this design. Suede where you need it (flick tricks) and Canvas where you don't need suede as much (heel and ollie areas)
