Knightshield is the only good defense type that can take the hardest hitting attack types and defeat some stamina types. Glad I took it instead of some other bey because defense types are my favourite. But boy was it down dirty by first fighting against Pheonix then suddenly going up against Wizardrod, the two most powerful X beys. Shied did good in stamina against Rod tho. 😅

The fact that "defense" bits have ZERO burst resistance infuriates me, it makes zero sense. I know stamina is supposed to be strong against them, but defense types not only cant spin as long but also dont move at all and therefore can barely attack. They get absolutely bodied by stamina or a good balance. Hell, they even still get bodied by the attackers, who theyre supposed to have an advantage against. It can occasionally absorb some impressive attacks and knock attackers flying backward (although this is a double edged sword depending on where you are in the arena as it can just as easily recoil KO you instead) but what do attackers specialize in? Burst hunting. The thing defense is completely powerless against

They just havent released a power creep defense type yet. Phoneix Wing is afcourse gonna be good when they give it that weight. The only newer defense release was Shinobi which I dont know how it made it out of testing with 28 grams of weight. Anyways Black Shell is coming in a month and it looks good so hopefully it ends up living up to the hype.

i think the main problem with defense types in X as of now, with a few exceptions, is that TT is trying to make the beys to where they work when they spin at an angle, but most of the time the beys don't do that, so they don't work as intended. Looking at LeonCrest's design, it seems that they are finally fixing that design flaw and working more towards upright defense types

You should probably pick up Hasbro unless you want the newest X beyblades. Parts are cross compatible and honestly it’s better to get Keelshark from Hasbro (unless you want the other random booster beyblades) and Soar Phoenix from Hasbro too (It’s the same but paying extra for the same beyblade isn’t worth)

Defense types are great, but I think you guys might be launching them wrong, I’m pretty sure they work best when launched at an angle. This gives them a chance to spin on the cone and 1. Absorb more hits 2. Get underneath the blade. For once the anime didn’t mess that up (ex. Multi & Lance Night)

I think there's a misconception that defense type are good against dash hence the demand for heavier defense blades. Defense type are good against attacks and win by spin finish. But they are not good against dash and is the reason why they are purposely designed to be lighter; to be at a disadvantage against dash but good against more normal attacks. Just like how attack types are purposefully given extremely weak endurance. There needs to be a balance. In general the way to win against attack type using defense type is to dodge the dashes in the 1st stage of the battle and then getting into constant contact with the opponent at the next stage to "defend" and end the spin of the opponent. And to win against stamina type is to take the opponent on early like an attack type as defense type will not be able to outlast stamina. Just like how attack type can't outlast defense. Besides some fluke everything went according to that in the video. But I do feel burst resistance should be given to defense instead of balance type to even all 4 types, but not the weight or endurance.

I used the Hasbro stadium since I don’t have the wider Takara Tomy one but since ring outs are more common due to the confined space I made them worth 1 point instead of 2 and it was first to 10 points. This really shows us how the Stamina and Defense typings got kind of swapped if you compare them back to the previous generations. Notice how the defense types back then had tips like Ball, Wide Ball, Defense, etc but now these shapes are now being used for Stamina types in X, with bits like Ball and Disc Ball on Wizard, and Gear Ball on Wyvern. Stamina types back in MFB had tips like Sharp/Spike, Metal Sharp, Eternal Sharp, but now we see bits like Spike on Rhino, Metal Needle on Shinobi, and Needle on Knight. Besides bit behaviour, I also think that defense types shouldn’t be so easy to burst since their point is to take hard hits. Other than the bits, the blades themselves even get the same treatment. Defense types back then were known to he heavy and hard to knock out the stadium, and stamina types were known as outspinning the opponent. This meant that an ideal defense type had to be heavy, and an ideal stamina type had to be lighter to spin longer. Now in X, we see that a defense type like Shinobi Shadow is not only a light layer, but also given a metal bit which enables it to have less friction and give it more STAMINA (like Burn Phoenix), and Wizard Rod, a stamina type, on the other hand being just slightly lighter than Phoenix Wing, being the 2nd heaviest yet having great DEFENSE. Feedback for TT: Using the type advantage triangle, maybe at least give defense bits the thickest, attack bits the medium, and stamina and balance bits can stay the same.
