I just stumbled upon your channel. I know the areas you're riding through and it's insane the amount of distance you're covering on the bike. Also have subscribed to your channel.

Hey Ross, thanks for reaching out! I suppose it is, that's definitely more to do with the ebike than my cycling ability! Although the hills around Keilor East were a challenge still! Thanks for the support mate, have subscribed to yours! :D

I see you riding down moonee ponds main Rd and was wondering is it an either or on riding on the road as a bicycle if there are no bike lanes available? Also how do you handle getting in with traffic when that happens? I'm Abit nervous to do it but looking into it ATM. Also another question is how do you find the speed? Do you feel it significantly slows down how many orders and distance or orders? I'm really curious how it all works

Hey hope you’ve been good! So sorry for the late reply! As far as I’m aware, in Victoria adults have to ride on the road. However, I’ll often use footpaths/crossings at busy junctions because it just feels a lot safer and I’d be willing to argue that case if a cop could be bothered to say anything but it’s highly unlikely. Realistically, no one is gonna have a problem with you riding on a footpath unless you’re speeding along endangering pedestrians

You should look into getting those ebike conversion kits. The 500w kits have a throttle only mode that can get you crusing around 40km/h.

@@sidebusinessbloke I have the same bike as you with a throttle. The difference is I'm in the u.s. and you're in Australia. I heard that it's illegal to have a throttle on a ebike in Australia.
@iamryc3
@iamryc3 2 жыл бұрын
The throttle helps you get the bike start rolling and gets you up to speed. It's only worth doing ubereats and door dash on a ebike in a very condensed area like a downtown area with short trips. I live in the Los Angeles area and I get lots of short trips. The downtown area here has lots of bike lanes. Lots of your customers are in fancy apartments, hotels, and office buildings with security guards.
@sidebusinessbloke
@sidebusinessbloke 2 жыл бұрын
Ahh interesting! Yes that would definitely be illegal here according to the current law. Do you need a motorbike license or anything to ride those where you are or can literally anyone ride them? And yes I think you’re spot on about location!
@iamryc3
@iamryc3 2 жыл бұрын
@@sidebusinessbloke you're still consider a bicycle under the current u.s. law. You have 3 classes of pedal assist. Each have a max speed and different set up. Class 1 ebikes are pedal assist only with a max speed of 15 mph. Class 2 having a throttle and max speed of 20mph. Class 3 having a max speed of 28mph but the motor cuts off if you reached that speed. You don't need a license. There are electric motorcycle. Those are throttle only, have a faster top speed and have loophole in the law. As long as it has bicycle pedals you don't need a license. The local governments are slowly catching up with this.

@sidebusinessbloke
@sidebusinessbloke 2 жыл бұрын
So I think it was coming up to three weeks. I have a feeling it might depend on your location too, if they are particularly short in certain areas the algorithm might seek to incentivise more drivers back on the road in that area. - That’s a complete guess though, don’t quote me on that! 😅

Hey just wondering what insulated bag are you using?
@sidebusinessbloke
@sidebusinessbloke 2 жыл бұрын
Great question mate! The one I use on a bike is actually from Zoomo. From memory it was $65 full price but I got it for about $55 because I rented an ebike from them. It’s definitely better quality than anything in that price range and you can walk in the store and buy it instead of waiting for one to arrive if you order online. In a car I use just a basic insulated bag I got off Amazon for about $25. If you buy one, make sure it can fit a large pizza and you can’t go wrong! Oh and DoorDash should send you a free one, it’s not amazing but it’s better than nothing.

Hi mate, Do u lock ur bike when u r delivering or picking up the food? Or is it safe to leave it for a while?
@sidebusinessbloke
@sidebusinessbloke Жыл бұрын
If I’m just picking up food and I can see it at all times I’ll just turn it all off and “lock it” with the key. E-bikes are hard to just wheel away when they’re powered off. If I’m going in to a shopping mall or apartment block I’m 100% locking it to something every time with a good D lock. AND if I’m leaving it for a while or in a dodgy area I’m also removing the battery because Zoomo charge you less for a stolen bike if you managed to keep hold of the battery. But that’s just me, maybe I’m a bit paranoid!

Hi mate, in most cases you should ride on the road unless there is a bicycle path or shared path. probably when it comes to urban areas of Melbourne, where the density of food stores and orders are higher, and parkings space are fewer, ebikes would be better

A good way to prevent magpies is people put a stick in their helmet all the time.... I want to contact Zoomo and am considering doing this 3 times per week on top of my other job... especially with summer coming up and this will allow me to train jiu-jitsu and work when I want..

Do you secure your bike while making deliveries, and is there a risk of theft?
@sidebusinessbloke
@sidebusinessbloke Жыл бұрын
Great question! If I’m just popping in to a restaurant and I’m only a few metres away I’ll just take the key out. If I’m going out of sight I’ll use the lock. If I’m going for any length of time I’ll also take the battery out as you get charged less if the worst case does happen and the bike gets stolen.

How did you do bike with Uber and have a car account. They will only let me have one or the other. Wanna do ebike but am weighing up the risk of shutting down car account.
@sidebusinessbloke
@sidebusinessbloke Жыл бұрын
Honestly, this is a really weird thing about Uber and I’m surprised they haven’t changed it yet. I had to switch over and it took about a week because the app was requesting all my ID docs again. Not sure if that’s normal but if you do switch just be prepared to wait a few days. DoorDash much better in this respect as you can have both and flick between them at the touch of a button. Maybe you could try ebike just with DoorDash first and then switch Uber Eats over if you think that’s the way you wanna go?

@@susanyuill6270 💯. Not impressive at all, it must be a business decision because it wouldn’t be hard to implement a way of switching between vehicles. DoorDash does it seamlessly
