If you are free to use gas or charcoal you of course won't consider this grill. Especially at this price point (which is my biggest complaint) you can get a really nice gas grill. But if you are not allowed to grill with open fire the Pulse might be the best alternative you can get. Living in an apartment in Hamburg I had the choice to pick an electric grill or not grill at all. I had the Q1400 first which is even more basic but it does a pretty good job with steaks, burgers and things like that. Last year I gave it to my sister and got the Pulse because it's larger, has two temperature zones instead of just one and far better temperature control. Yes, heating it up takes some time, especially if you are used to gas grills but I use that time to prepare the food. So it's not really an issue for me. But once it is heated up it does its job as well as a gas grill. I regularly use the Broil King of my parents when I visit them and the results are the same to what I get with the Pulse. Also I know a few other people who use the Pulse and they are as satisfied with it as I am.

My Uncle just gave away his standard grill after his years putting in a lot of work. He wants to continue to grill and this would be perfect. Plus I didn’t know there’s a time coming of banning gas, hence gas grills. Thanks for the review.

I agree it is a Forman type grill. Masterbuilt has an electric smoker that you can add a heating element on top to sear meat. They just took that and flipped it around and with no wood chips no smoke flavor. My friends have an electric grill which works ok but the delay in heating and also heat recovery are just not there yet. Also that you can lift that off the stand it seems like a modified kitchen appliance.

right, we need the smoke flavor!! It is cool how you can lift it up. The cart is actually some extra cash too so you can always just get the grill part.

If it is like the Q Electric, that is not at all like a Foreman grill. I get smokey flavor on the electric Q. They do smoke! That is why they do not allow the use indoors.

I happen to have this grill in my Spain apartment and a 8 burner Gas Weber Summit in the US. The Pulse 2000 electric grill is amazing. There are a ton of Weber accessories that further enhance the features and functionality of this grill. Yes, you can easily and effectively smoke on the Pulse 2000.

The advantage of electric is sometimes they can be moved inside. Also; they save draging the gas cylinder up stairs and into lifts.

They need to toss in a griddle top as standard to really make this thing sell. So its more a griddle and then it could grill too if you want. I think that would attract more people to it.. maybe............. lol.

I will stay with my Weber Electric Q 2400- much cheaper and I figured out the hotter ( direct) v.s. lower (indirect) areas of the heating element. It cooks as well as a propane!

The reason of not having temperature control, imagine you being in the house and you “switch of “ your grill and you go to bed. Imagine if there is a “lag” “glitch“ Wi-Fi problem or something that’s indicate in your app that it’s off BUT in reality it’s still going on 😮😢. So it’s for safety reasons. Just my thoughts 😊😅

@@embersliving I wasn't trying to be snarky or condescending, i was legitimately asking. Is there a differance? Do you get "better" results with an electric grill setup, vs grilling in your home on a grill pan, or putting your oven to grill mode? Has anyone every done a comparison?

Taste-wise there's no advantage of gas over electric. A gas flame doesn't produce any smoke that would infuse the meat with flavor like charcoal does.

It would be nice if someday we could generate hydrocarbons slowly from water+air using electricity, then burn those hydrocarbons fast for proper cooking. We are 100% hydro power here so that would be carbon neutral.

So $1100 for the cart basically? I mean there's No way it can be that big of a difference from the portable Q series except the termometer on and some apps for it come on how lazy can you possibly have to be? I would highly recommend the Q1400-Q2400 if you just gonna grill on your balcony

Depends on what you want to grill. For steaks, sausages, chicken, burgers etc. the Q is perfectly fine. I had the Q1400 and the results have always been really nice. It could also do ribs and pulled pork but that's not the Q's strength. Temperature control at the Pulse is far better and it has a second temperature zone. And its build quality is much better, it feels much more solid and has an insulated lid. But the huge price difference is still hard to justify.
@yoooei5792
@yoooei5792 3 ай бұрын
@@Harry-tb8yo That's the downside of the Q, sometimes I wish it had a termometer especially when you preheat it. But since im a pretty basic griller and live in an apartment I just throw on whatever I choose to grill and close the lid and flip it until done. But for the price of the pulse you can get a really good gas grill, I just don't see electrical grills being there just yet even though some electrical grills get to almost same temperatures as gas grills. But it sure is a nice looking grill with some nice features for sure! If you have the budget then it's probably a good buy🙂
@Harry-tb8yo
@Harry-tb8yo 3 ай бұрын
@@yoooei5792 A thermometer on the lid is nice but not necessary in my opinion. There is still the option to use a wireless one, especially since most lid thermometers are not that precise. Indeed you can get a really nice gas grill for the price of the Pulse but I am living in an apartment building and even if gas grills were allowed I would have an issue storing the gas bottles. So yes, spending that much more did really hurt but I do not think about which nice Broil King I might have gotten for that money and instead enjoy grilling.

@@Harry-tb8yo I just wish the Q1400 have it so I can at least check it reaches the temperatures it's meant to reach but yes true it might not be 100% accurate. I understand I hope you are happy with the Pulse grill🙂

I have charcoal and electric. Electric doesn't replace charcoal, but after trying one of these it gives the same results as a gas grill and prefer the cleanliness and reliability over the hassles of propane. Don't worry, the gubbament is not coming for our charcoal grills, and even if they did you can just make your own friggin charcoal at home, so you can calm down, Spartacus.
