I was listening in the background, heard you say “ I like really smooth paper and snappy brushes” (paraphrase). Stopped what I was doing to check if I’m subscribed. You were speaking my language. Great review. Thank you. I have 3 versatil, they are the ones I grab first everytime.

I use the snapier synthetics for details,so I use brushes like no3 and under rounds and no 2 to 4 liner brushes. For my main round,I use no 6 to12 synthetics that mimic sable. For flat I use a very big natural goat hair for big washeswat just adding water to the paper for wet on wet. Lastly medium and small synthetic squares, that I use the least. The most underrated brand is KUM brushes. They perform as good if not better than Da Vinci. Made in Germany. Love them!!

Thank you for sharing, I will look up that brand. Do you have a brand that you mostly stick with when working with rounds?

@@AuniaKahn Da Vinci Casaneo ,KUM and if I can't get one I go for Princeton select. Thats the 3 best round brushes available here. I can get a Black Velvet but they are not my cup of tea. Ive never tried the famous Escoda, because none sells those around here! It would cost me 2 times more,to order them from Spain, which is the only site I can find those!

@@greekveteran2715 I tried the Black Velvet and did not find them any better than some of the cheeper brushes. As well as the Escoda, after the video, I tried to work with them and for the price sticking with a cheaper brand was better. I sent them back after 1 time of use. They were really nice, but again not worth the money.

I suppose that it depends on where you live. As I live in Spain, Escoda has the best relationship between quality and price for me. I have a lot of them, from different lines, my favorites being Reserva, Perla and Aquarius.

Thank you for this review. I've recently started to get into watercolor painting and with the plethora of brushes out there this helped me narrow my choices down. Thank you very much 🙂

I was painting Anna bucciarelli’s sweet pea and dragonfly and noticed how easy the paint makes a smooth fine-line and bought a number two Escoda Versatil. After ten years I finally found one that would do what I needed. I noticed that it has a very “small flat”point instead of a point.

I have to agree I got Escoda’s expensive brush but the one I reach for always is Escoda Prado I find I use them more than any brush because I have all the brushes. So try the Escoda Prado watercolor brush

I have one Escoda, a Prado round #14. I suspect it is one of their cheaper brushes. I saw a recent video with painter Thomas Schaller who said he liked Escoda (possibly the Joseph Z pair). But that set of two is about 350 Canadian on Amazon, too rich for my hobbyist needs.

Thank you for sharing. That is crazy expensive Canadian. Truly there are some really great brushes that are cheap. I still love durango brushes and they are about as cheap as you can get. I ended up sending the Escoda back, they really were not that much better than the other brushes I had for the price.

@@AuniaKahnlol. Another one. The travel brush which comes with the Van Gogh paint set ... yeah it has an annoying plastic handle ... I declare that brush tip is either a DaVinci Caseneo or a Prado. That brush is glorious! 😅
