The reason I use iem for gaming is because it is easier for me to tell audio from my left to right side. I have open back astros for my over the ear. And if you were glasses like me it’s way more comfortable!

The ceiling for soundstage and imaging is definitely higher for open back headphones, but IEMs offer so much value for each pricepoint, $20 IEMs like Zero:2, is already plenty for competitive gaming, and there is so much value going up the $60-$80 range like Simgot's EW300 or Zero:RED. If you're on a budget or don't want to spend a lot on audio, IEMs are the way to go, just get a bunch of $20 to figure out what signature you like and get a direct upgrade from that.
@zofr3 ай бұрын
THIS. I wish I would have mentioned the prices. A $40 IEM vs a $40 headphone. The IEM wins every single time.

@@iidarkstealth7164what did you buy bro? I'm also in the same boat 😢
@berkeokur994 ай бұрын
You can buy a good DAC with low noise floor for less than 100$. Also 90% of us don't need a dedicated amplifier for iems, as Crinacle said they don't provide additional benefits when paired with iems because they are sensitive enough to be driven by an Apple usb-c to 3.5mm dongle. I highly suggest checking out his website and the article about power.
@zofr4 ай бұрын
I understand most IEMs are low impedance but if you want to get the most out of them a dac/amp is the way to go.
@yogionduty43723 ай бұрын
Crinacle said that an amp is not necessary but it changes little details. You dont need an amp if your iems are loud enough. You also don't need an amp if you're not an audiophile.
@yogionduty43723 ай бұрын
@@zofrYou forgot about the driver sensitivity. A headphone/iem can be high impedance but also high sensitivity.

I have personally been using iem's for gaming and all my daily listening activities for past 3 year and i wont have it any other way, headphones after being broken cant be fixed, the moisture ruins the cushion way to often and wearing them is such a pain. Compared to all that with iems i have replaced the wires 3 times by now since i keep it poorly, nothing happened to the actual ear pices to far even rhough i have dropped them a couple of times, the sound seperation is phenomenal even the cheaper ones rhat i have, i listen to music a lot as well so just made sense, buying any other good earphone for gaming still requires me to buy a new one after breaking, so ofcourse iems are better since i only have to get a new wire = saving money. I use kz zex since it was said to be better with bass and gaming amd cheap. Choosing th right iems is necessary and if u dont understand it well just go for a reviews and pick the ones better with bass and pop music and better seperation. And even if they are not better in terms of sound, the utility far exceeds any headphone at the same price point.

Have you used the moondrop variations? was thinking about getting them and I'm pretty new to the scene
@aeisbaer80423 ай бұрын
I also precieve IEMs to be much more detailed than headphones. To be fair, my refrence for Headphones in that case is the Sennheiser HD560s while I use the Moondrop Variations as my main IEMs, so it's an unfair comparision considering the price difference. But even at audio shows where I tried more expensive over ears, the outcome was similar.
@zofr3 ай бұрын
i get you. i feel like it has to be do to the audio shooting directly into the ear.
@JohnClarkW4 ай бұрын
I find that for gaming something with a bit more treble is ideal, because it tends to help with imaging. I love bass for my music, but it gets dialed too much up for games. The Crin Zero is great if you have larger ear canals, but the nozzles are too large for many people. If someone wants a good cheap IEM for gaming the Truthear Gate is a good pick, with the Truthear Nuo being better for music and having more bass.
@zofr4 ай бұрын
never tried the other 2 options you’ve mentioned. i appreciate the insight brotha!

If you want to buy an iem both for music and gaming I'd suggest getting a planar magnetic iem because they offer better clarity and separation. I'm currently using Letshuoer S12 and I'm very happy with it. Crinacle Salnotes Dioko is also a great option.
