VMWare partners and customers are feeling the pressure that is coming from Broadcom already, The VMWare acquisition by Broadcom can have significant impact on IT professionals and IT careers as well.
In this video I will highlight the impact of the changes and what it could mean for your IT career if you are a VMWare subject matter expert or if you were planning to shift your career into VMWare.

I have worked in 2 medium-sized companies in Germany over the past few years, and we definitely will not be switching from VMWare to an alternative. With hundreds of servers, it would be too large of a transition, and the company also lacks the skilled professionals who could manage it. Additionally, VMWare does have some features that the competition doesn't offer.

I am a tech support engineer at a startup/scaleup. We use VMWare the deploy our batch virtual machine offerings. I'm not an expert on vmware, I just use it for basic tasks. Is it worth learning it in detail?

Yes, technically VMware is brilliant... however, with the price increase you'll have to do a cost/benefit analysis, other products are available (and catching up quickly). We are a VMware house and have started looking at moving to another product.
This is WHY you are not landing your first job in I.T.
