Yea, they used to tell us in the meetings to drop the study if they dont want to come to the meetings. They dropped my mother from her study because she didn't want to come to the meetings. They fully expect people to join the organization when they conduct a bible study.

i was once a bible student just over a year ago, i loved the study but i never went to the meetings or did the zoom equivalent and i kept getting pressured by the guy doing my studies until eventually he said, we cant continue the study until you start attending meetings and i saw it for the spiritual blackmail that it was, my studies was a good crutch of support but it completely disillusioned me to their teachings and way of doing things I still believe in God but they do not represent the God i believe in.

Their Book, organized to do Jehovahs will clearly stated that if a Bible student does not progress to attending a meeting after 6 months, discontinue the study, as there’s limited time to reach “honest hearted ones”meaning people that’ll get converted. Their members don’t follow it though, in order to count hours lol.

@@liz090833 Thank you! i believed in God before i started studying with them, which is why i started the study with them as i was looking for a church to become involved in, and i had next to no knowledge of the JW's organisation. the shunning alone made me question them, the guy i did my studies with was a nice guy and they tried everything to encourage me, from praising my bible knowledge to how i did the studies, i don't think they liked my arguments for voting, i would say yeah human governments arent great but if you can make life better even by a little bit by voting then its worth doing. The guy even had a circuit overseer become involved in the studies, made me feel special and valued, which it really did but in the end the other shoe dropped but now after watching hundreds of lloyd's videos, i feel nothing but disgust for that organisation, and i know in my heart that they are wrong and when i die and if i happen to be wrong, then i will explain that to God myself. But i have no doubt in what i feel about them now. 10 years is a long time to be in that cult, i truly feel sorry for the children that have no choice in it

A JW may conduct a bible study for a whole year during which the student would have stopped smoking, stop a relation with a friend who had bad influences, start doing prayers every day, decide to not let their children celebrating halloween, etc But, the JW would still stop the study because they would conclude that the student would not have made progress. The only "progress" they are interested in is that the students progress towards the Kingdom Hall so they can be able to use the non-obligatory contribution box.

Knowing what I know, it's ridiculous to "study" the bible with any civilian, let alone those infusing their belief systems into it. For each Christian sect to support their individual theology, there's an amount of untruths, theological plot hatchings, interpretive scripture spins, ignorant misunderstandings and blinders on which need to happen.

It sounds to me like Daniella's Bible student was developing a sincere belief in JW doctrine, but because she was still clinging to aspects of her previous non-JW religious beliefs and felt she would become stronger in the Witness faith in "Jehovah's time", Daniella was only all too eager to quit the Bible study sessions altogether with this woman.

I tried that too. I talked about the ARC and other child abuse cases, showed them Russel's pyramidal tomb and adressed -607 teaching. They were so conditionned. On ARC they came back and said it happened in the 80s and that things had changed and now they would report to the police. On Russel tomb they were saying that this looked like a photo montage. On -607 I showed them on the net that there was archeological evidences and that appart from them all historian were giving -539 as the year. Again they came up with some justification (i don't remember exactly what they said). They also told me to be cautious with the news, there was lot of fake news about them. They even thought there was "deepfakes" I could be exposed too. They said these news I was looking into may look legit but they were in fact lies. I saw that they were just unwilling to do reasearch by themselves. They came back to answer what I told them about ARC and child abuses after consulting the Elder of their congregation. Surely if you have this mindset that all info not coming from the organisation are lies and that the only place you can seek for answers is within the organisation, then you are clearly in a loop where you are only exposed to one side of the medal and that side is Watchtower. I also came to the conclusion that JWs may just unconsiously blind themselves to things that may make them question their fate. I think that the sole idea that if you start to distance from your fate may result in loosing any ties with your familly and JW friends is enough fear pressure on them to keep them blinded. But, that said, I will still take any occasion to try to question them. The goal should not be to convince them of something with opinions. The goal should be to have them start doing reasearch outside of WT material on their own.

You do have to wonder: if millions of people benefit from having Bible studies with the JWs despite not ever becoming believing, baptized, active Jehovah's Witnesses themselves, then why does the Watchtower Society never feature any interviews with these people? If you undergo a Bible study course with the Witnesses and you don't have any interest in joining the JW faith, your Bible study conductor will cancel your Bible study sessions rather quickly without hesitation. JW Bible study conductors/Bible study teachers are required by the Organization to do that to Bible students who "are not progressing in the truth".

Can you imagine a JW devoting 60 hours to study the 60 chapters in the book with a study, and not expecting them to become a JW or at least come to meetings? It also works the other way with JWs. When I became interested, (44 yrs ago) I first went to a Meeting at the local K.H. I knew nothing about Weekly Bible Studies at the time. I had gone to 3 meetings, when a "Sister" insisted that in order to keep attending meetings, I had to start a Bible Study with another Teenaged "Sister". If I refused, (I was told; politely, but obviously it was a "Red Flag")that I could not keep attending meetings. I was still young and naiive and did not know that I could have stood up for myself by refusing and cutting all ties to that Cult. I also had not become aware yet that JWs do not really teach Bible Truths but rather WT Propaganda. So, I reluctantly agreed to do the "Study". I'm sure there are similar experiences as mine was, intimidating others, to this day. If, (according to WT's written words), 'Faith is a Personal Thing', then Pressuring People to accept Cult Conformity and Intimidating People (who choose to follow their own rules)by Shaming/Blaming/Harassment or Ridicule, should never occur or be applauded.

When I did a Bible study I would write rebutals in the margins! I thought they would be happy because it proved not only had I read it, but also thought about it. They were not happy, they were horrified. The study did not last more than a couple lessons.

After I learned more about their beliefs I quit but before I did, I found out that they have baby showers but of course no birthday celebrations. That's true I have stopped attending four years ago although my Wife is still attending. And she had some photos of a JW stag do dressed as superhero's. Not something they are supposed to do but they are a Elders family so they play by different rules naughty naughty but that's how some are .

I have read at least one article (maybe there are more but I don't remember) in The Watchtower Study Edition guiding JWs to discontinue the Bible Study if the person was not interested. There was even a list of questions the JWs had to answer regarding their "student" and if the boxes were checked then clearly the person was not worth it. Well, one of the questions was if the person was willing to offer money to the Organisation! If anyone interested, I will try to find the article and share the exact edition of the Watchtower

My bible study's been going on for years and I only ever went to one meeting. I made it clear the last study, that there are things in their doctrine that I don't agree with and told them several times that I'm not going to be a JW. I decided way back, when I mistakenly let them in, that I'll just ride this out and wait. Intel, they realize that I'm not going to be converted and give up on me. I was open to having a bible study year's back because I just started reading the bible at that time. I read the KJV on my own time and still do and they are amazed of what I pick up on it. I never consider reading the NWT and only read what's ever in their lessons. The last two studies were over, what happens when we die. Knowing that what they believe that we just go asleep, then are resurrected in the last days. I told them that I strait up don't believe that. But I believe that our souls are resurrected rite after we die. They told me to come up with some scriptures that support that before the next study. I came up with almost 20. Luke 23:43 and Revelation 6:9-11 to me is the most convincing and strait forward. I'm amazed on how they twist, stretch and combine scriptures to fit their narrative. I'm starting to get fed up. When does it end!!!

I once got started on a bible study (only 4 meetings) has an opportunity to talk with the JW and adress questions in order to try to make them realised that they are being lied to and manipulated. I've been attending KH has a kid but left unbaptised during teenage years. They started pressurizing me to go to the memorial and doing bible study for my children on the second occasion we met (and they asked again on third and forth occasion). I felt like they were seeing me like a trophy. They would have been so proud to bring me back to the KH as someone who had been in the faith in the past and now returning to it. Like they often depict in their propaganda videos. I also didn't liked when they asked personnal questions about my situation in life like they were trying to find if I had problems and was unhappy with something. I figured it was to find a way for them to show that they can be relevant. You know.... you have this problem? We have the solution. Just look at recent videos Loyld posted where in their propaganda they depict JWs like they are "therapists" when conductiong a bible study. They show wordly people with problems and the JW is there to solve them with bible (and WitchTower) teachings.

Hi loyd, please guys in ths comment section too, could anyone please give me some advice? I'm not baptised, but have studird and been involved on and off for about ten years. I went through a dovorce this year and moved into a flat for me and my 9 yr old daughter. Along with other issue I was in a dara place and then found out my neighbour is jw elder and I've been studying with him now for 6 months aprox. Me and my daughter have been coming so close to them, they are lovely people but I just can't commit! I'm having a chat with home later but I just do t know what to sau, I'm not good and studying up for myself and then tend to go black on all the points that have affected my fairh. I've considered just pretending so me and mu daughter have ' nice' friends . Please help

The JWs are a cult and not a nice one. Theyll control of your friends, family, clothing, activities and education, ability to vote, hours you work etc . Do you want that? Oh they’ll drop you in an emotionally abusive manner if you don’t follow their rules to the letter .

I know this is an old comment and probably no longer relevant to you, but I'd guess that finding another way to spend quality time with your daughter may benefit you in that regard. Non-denominational churches exist just because we understand how important a caring community is for our health. I'm also studying with a couple of JWs and am having similar issues, the material is a real struggle for me. In my case, I don't believe any of what they have to say, and spot many Red Flags for potential manipulation, though I don't know enough to fully speak on it. I've never had faith to begin with, nor a real spiritual need, so I unfortunately can't help you there.
