When I was in middle school, I noticed alot of ghe girls would run and hug each other often. Then I saw some girls give quick smooches to each other. Little nothing pecks. I was a confused kid, so I asked my Mom. She told me that it's common for girls to smmoch and just be close. My sister, my mom, my grandma as well. Had friends like this. Totally straight and all had husbands in the future. What we are witnessing, is a extremely close relationship between two young ladies/girls. The obvious love they have is special and rare. In a way, I think they are "in love". From the outside, it can look like they are a in a romantic relationship. Because they are so cozy and have a glow abut them.
