This was great and I love how you inserted the message throughout the video that no one else’s opinion matters. I don’t think of you as plus size, I think of you as smart, relatable, funny and beautiful. I always crack up when you and Yota reference each other in videos. I don’t notice the glare on your glasses, I’m paying attention to what you are saying, but I appreciate that you are always aware of the little details to have a quality video.

Yes, please do. I’m 63 and curvy and have never felt good in my own skin. At one time I would have never been seen without makeup. Now. Ehhhh. No matter, since going grey I’m invisible and loving every minute. It’s like being the invisible man. No one even cares you are around and will talk about anything. Makes people watching so much better. But I do love my bags. 💕

Autumn, I'm glad you're the positive and curious fashion on a budget u-tuber who speaks out forthrightly about things that really count. Self-esteem and self-image are so important and not letting others judge you by appearance is profound. Our inner beauty is what shines forth in the end and how we treat others is what counts! Keep up the great videos!!!

Tote bags with handle drops that are too short is something I always look out for. The Neverfull is a great bag but would be perfect for me if only the strap drop was just a few inches longer, especially with a winter coat.

Thank you Autumn for doing this video. As a plus size women I avoid small bags. My bags are oversized but it’s a preference for me. But, this video proves that smaller ones are ok for me too. I have started adding medium sized bags to my collection. I collect Artisan handmade woven bags from Guatemala. They tend to be slouchy so it helps. I can also wear them as a backpack.

Your observation about the structured/hard bag is lighting up that bulb in my brain! Almost every plus size bag "guide" that I'd come across talks about how great a structured bag is for us however I find myself going for more soft/floppy bags and I didn't know why. Now that you'd pointed out how the stiff bags add to our girth, I finally get it!!! Thanks lots Autumn!

Great video I am 5'8 and a size 16 I find some brands like Coach put frustratingly short straps on their cross body bags. I am always looking for ones with detachable straps so I can swap them out. Brands like Vera Bradley and Kipling seem to do a better job of taking all body shapes into account. Vera actually includes an extender in their slings and bum bags.

Also saw an IG video recently about a plus size woman who had their Chanel purse chain lengthend by a professional leather worker. It’s your stuff some do whatever you want to it to make it work for you. That Chanel doesn’t offer different chain lengths for their popular styles is a disgrace on itself. When I pay new car money for a bag - why can’t I customize anything about it??
@AutumnBeckman3 жыл бұрын
Great idea. I know there are dupes with the same chain. I wonder how close to the original that extension chain was or if the cobbler replaced it completely. Yes, they should be customizable.

Loved this video! I think its important for plus size women to feel empowered rather than feel like you don't deserve a space on this planet. I heard a motivational speaker say something that has stuck with me for a long time. She said "Somebody else's opinion of you is none of your business!". Autumn, I would love for you to do a clothing video where you style your looks. Before I forget, there is a KZbinr called Joy Amor and her byline is "Beauty is a state of mind not body!" I love that and even bought a shirt with it printed on front. As a larger woman, and someone who has ALWAYS been overweight, self esteem is not one of my strong points. We are told all our lives that our bigger bodies are disgusting and undesirable and we take all that in and it eventually makes you hate your self. Thank you for showing that larger bodies are beautiful too!

Thanks for an informative look at handbag issues. It does all come down to "if you like it, if it works for you - wear it". Should plus size people wear luxury?? There are still people out there who think plus size people don't deserve luxury goods and want us to be inconspicuous so they don't have to see us. Too bad for them.

I'm very petite. So I can totally relate to your comment about bags and how they always fit (when often, clothing does not). I ordered an Alma BB but it was too small for my 5’9 plus size frame, so I exchanged it. It looked like I was carrying a baby purse 😐 I’m awaiting my Alma PM and hoping it’s more suitable to my size. I’d love to enter the pre-loved purse market, but having not seen many of the bags in person with the exception of Speedy’s and Neverfulls, I am now afraid they will be too small on my body. I’d love a Cabas Piano but not sure of the size for my shape. My Alma BB experience has left me questioning what to get.

I remember one of my favourite Luxury KZbinr's said she needed to loose weight before buying a Chanel mini and myself and so many other comments said that no human should ever loose weight for a bag! I hope she feels more self love for herself. I'm a little curvy so I sometimes feel strange with mini bags, I also have bigger boobs so some cross body looks strange too but then I remind myself that all bags work for them. It's a bag!

Hi Autumn! That's a great video. I'm fluffy too & appreciate all of your ideas. Since little bags are okay for us apparently, hopefully some little luxury (gift with purchase) cosmetic bags I ordered will work out as clutches or little crossbody bags - if I can attach hardware & straps to them. I was worried about their tiny size, but now feel hopeful. Would love to see you explore that subject. Thanks again for this video - and Happy Halloween!

While I have to say that I prefer to 'try a bag on' to see if it looks ok on me, from the opposite perspective, if I am admiring a bag on someone else - I am almost always looking at the bag not the wearer, so size, height, ect does not matter, my eyes are exclusively on the bag. On another note, I would love to hear what you have to say on self-image. In my opinion, how a person is perceived has a lot to do with personality, positivity and confidence vs "looks". However, training yourself to project a confident image is easier said than done. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

Right on! The person we all need to please the most is ourselves. You are not that big of a person, and those tote straps are not that long for most people to fit in their shoulder without the bag folding. I am not plus sized, but I’m not skinny and I have a large chest and broad shoulders, which makes me look much bigger than I actually am. I can still wear a size medium on the bottom but the top is a different story. Some crossbody bags fit but hit in a really strange place. I have a Mini Evelyne, and the strap is too short for me to wear crossbody without looking like my breasts will swallow it. Same with the Toy LouLou. I just wear them as shoulder bags. I bought strap extenders for the Toy LouLou. I wear bags of all sizes and make adjustments if I need to. And, not to be dramatic, but I survived cancer(so far!) and I’m gonna do whatever I want! 😁
