The liquid metal was louder and less twanging much more clearer. I honestly did not even expect the difference but was surprised.

I was a bit surprised by the difference, didn't really expect any. Thanks! Your videos already have INCREDIBLE production, but I might make some suggestions. One, I've noticed on several videos the arpeggio comparisons are at fairly different tempos. Because of the way our brains work that tempo change can affect the way we perceive the tone. If you could play off the same tempo that would be great. (You do a good job on the songs of being in the same tempo ballpark.) Secondly, I'm not sure why, but on this video the ebony was panned more to the right and metal to the left. That definitely messes with the perception of the sound, especially for those with hearing loss in one ear. These are just observations. You're videos are already amazing!

There is a clear difference to me in the 'immediacy' of the tone from the liquid metal pins. It seemed to deliver a lot of energy right away while the ebony seemed to have some delayed overtones and softer attack to the notes. LM pins were also subjectively louder to me. Also subjectively more "clean" tonally but with good duration of tonal resonance on a note or chord. As far as tonal qualities, I think that is more dependent on the instrument you put them on and what you are looking for sound-wise.

That was a pretty good video! I have that same guitar and I have Tusc pins on it, I think. I think that there was clearly a difference between the two types of pins. But to me it boils down to taste. I thought the ebony pins seem to have a warmer tone and the metal seemed to have this perfect tone which lacked the impurities that I like about acoustic guitars so I think I like the ebony better.

I agree. I ended up keeping the bridge pins but I put them on my taylor gs mini mahogany. For that guitar, I think these bridge pins was the upgrade that guitar needed since it always sounded so dark.

great comparison, thanks. I like the ebony myself. The metal pins seem to show off any imperfect technique. The ebony is more balanced and shimmers more. My opinion of course

I liked the ebony more too. I did end up keeping the Lux Pins and I put them on my taylor gs mini. I actually like how it sounds on that guitar. That guitar was always too warm for me anyways so I think the pins helped that guitar.

Honestly, the liquid metal, to me, just sounded like a really well done digital model of an acoustic guitar, if that makes sense. Like if Kemper made a generic plug in for acoutic guitar. The ebony pins actually sound like they project the character of THAT guitar.

Man, I just dropped $99 for my Chrom LUXE BY MARTIN® Bridge Pins for my Martin OMC-15. All I really want is durability as my standard wood pins wear out, crack, and break often and I am sick of replacing them. I sure hope these hold up, thank you for your video, going to watch now! 🤠🤚

@@vladi7441 Hi Vladi, yes, I do have the Chrome LUX Liquid Metal Martin bridge pins and, in my opinion, they have given my guitar a magnified resonance and brighter tone than the factory ones. I play a Martin OMC-15. They are extremely durable and no issues w cracks or breaking as of now. They are very expensive ($99 USD) but, for me, worth every penny. The magnified volume and resonance as well as increased brightness when strumming, doing arpeggios, or solo work as well as sheer durability (metal alloy) makes them well worth it in my opinion. Hoping this helps my friend!

I only saw the strumming mix part of this video and those comparisons should be made in mono. In the liquid metal section you have a stereo problem, sounds like a phase problem and ruins completely the comparison.

I went under head phones the second time I heard it. There is definitely a difference! The bass strings have more volume and the tonal frequency range dropped, meaning less tinny. The treble strings are definitely more damped in the tonal range, with a shift to the lower spectrum. I enjoyed them, but the difference would no doubt come down to personal taste and preference. Not sure it's worth the C-note they want for them.

Good question! I was wondering that myself. My answer is that I dont know. But they look like they are made from different materials so I would think the tone would be different with different materials. I was even wondering about the white ones. They dont even look metal unless they have such a high polish that they just "look" like plastic. Hopefully someone else knows!

Liquid Metal sounds bigger, crisper separation, and more strongly projected. It's subtle, but clearly distinguishable. FYI, my girlfriend says that she loves the bone. I just wanted to share that with everyone. She doesn't even like guitar, but she loves the bone.

Liquid metal gave much more "metallic flavor" to high tones, and more loudness overall. With "ebony" the sound was more "balanced" (just a touch more than with plastic pins, I suppose, but a bit louder than with plastic). Whoever has a superb acoustic guitar in the class of a top tier Martin, or Guild, without any piezo internal pickup or/and on-board magnetic pickup, and wants to preserve the original tone, should not use the "liquids" - any "bone", not only "ivory", even the "ebony" and the plastic will get the job done better.

It blows my mind what 'we" spend on pins and blue chip pics and saddles and tuners etc. Do we even practice or play gigs or just play with fellow musicians on the w/e anymore? A lot of things screwed us up. What strings, what guitar, what Amp (for elect what cords for amps and guitars what pedals on and on. It's exhausting and expensive! I'm guilty if all I'm complaining about btw...just remember your roots! For me a $20 dollar nylon string guitar I bought in Mexico and played and practiced my butt off learning songs, licks, chords, rhythm, lead....back to the love of friken playing!!!😂❤

I hear a significant difference between the two examples you've presented, through my Sony MDR-V6headphones on a 2020 MacBook Pro. The Liquid Metal Pins are definitely warmer (without loosing detail) and a bit louder (especially on arpeggios and fingerpicking) and fuller to my ears. I like/prefer the warmer sound. If I were choosing between two guitars (which to buy) and all else being equal, I would pay the extra fee $100 or so to have that difference in sound. So, a $100 or so increase in the price of a guitar would be worth it for me. I think you almost always pay a higher percentage more for that last 10 percent of performance in guitars and audio equipment.

Well said. I ended up keeping them but I put it on my taylor gs mini. I would even say on a cheaper guitar they might make an even bigger difference. Not that it will take a bad sounding guitar and make it better. But, it did enhance the GS mini to my ears.
