If you're in a relationship, heavily invested, and real love is there, the split is never going to be simple and amicable. The only thing you should every worry about is making sure you do right by the person and you're not sloppy with the way you're doing things. A person that really loves will is going to have a hard time with the breakup and that's okay. You also need to cut off communication for a while, if kids aren't involved, to make sure no mixed signals are being sent.

The part of the conversation that’s missing is that men and women (typically) serve different roles in relationships. So when a man walks away, its like pulling away that providing/protecting/covering from someone you love but don’t want to be with anymore. Breaking up with a woman can go wrong in several ways. Crying, begging, several calls/texts being sent, she could physically attack you, destruction of your property, stalking, harassment online. Making a scene in public etc. It’s probably best if the woman leaves the man but then the man would be angry if he doesn’t want to let her go or he resents the fact she had the gall to leave. Some men might even KNOW the relationship is bad but still want to put the clamps on her because he’s used to the nonsense. Breaking up is hard to do unless both people are TIRED.
