I normally take out the microSD, put it in the adapter, and just insert to my PC to get more music. That way, I don't have to mess with syncing up the device. Also, depending on the Bluetooth earbuds you're using, the sound on the Walkman is much better than that of a cellphone. I'm running the Bose Soundsport and they sound so much better. Great review.

you know, the argument that the dedicated audio player is better for listening is not unique it's absolutely true but not unique, but you likened it to video games on a phone vs. the switch and capturing video on a camera vs. on the phone and that to my knowledge is never brought up. well done and thank you.

I now got a fiio m11 as my first dap sinds 2005 and i must say i didn't know what i was missing.. 1 No phone notifications. 2 Better sound. 3 Build for music. 4 All high-res songs at one place. 5 Your phone saves battery. 6 No google play, but still Spotify deezer etz. 7 Long battery of the player. 8 It is made to drive better headphones than your phone.

Thanks for the thoughtful review. It helped me make up my mind in favor of buying one. I rarely use my phone for music and I refuse to pay for streaming, so I am by default a CD person. I just bought a new car and there was no cd player with it. I could get an aftermarket player but the truth is that the future is in digital music, so I may as well take the plunge. I'll be transferring as much of my cd collection as possible to the player (with the extra memory card). Thanks again for the info!

Hey man I appreciate your video a ton. Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts, you seem to have good ideas, unlike most others on the web who are just followers. I don't agree with people saying "get to the point, speak faster". It's like people these days don't actually take the time to think, they are always stressed out and on a rush, at the expense of intellectual independence. Overall, a great little device. I've been thinking of it but it's quite expensive in my opinion and my iPod still works good anyway... I may buy one on Amazon warehouse and return it if it's not worth it for me. They also sell an Android version of this player, the NW-A105 so you can use your spotify apks from mobilism lol. But, the drawback is that it has poor battery life. Have a good day.

As for the convenience issue, I think whoever will buy a stand alone music player already knows that they will have to transfer files, also I don’t think most of them are listening to mp3 files, but hi-res files. If you still have it listen to hi-res files, rip a cd to the computer and rip it to wav or flac and compare that song to a regular mp3 file

Hey Mate, I loved your review. Recently Sony released the nw-a105 that has Android and you can run apps like Deezer. I have the same phone that you and I was also reading that the “real audio quality” of S10+ comes from the USB-C headphones. To be honest I don’t know if that would be true. So, I have two questions for you and I would like to know if you can help to make a decision here. Does it worth to buy the nw-a105 with android? Is it true that you can have the same quality of sound from the s10+ if I use the headphones plug in to the phone through USB type C? Thanks in advance for the help. I would say that the sound quality is better on the Galaxy S10 with headphones plugged directly into the headphone jack, instead of the USB C dongle. I don't have USB-C headphones to try it that way, but through a dongle, it's not the same. As for if you should get the NW-a105, it depends on if you'd like to have a device specifically for music and to save your phone's battery. I personally didn't see the point of carrying two separate devices at all times, although I did like the Walkman.

If all you want to do is stream music, you should stick to your phone. If you have your own personal collection and want a dedicated mp3 player, get an mp3 player. Some times less is actually more (See the iPod Touch, which is basically an expensive phone without the phone portion).

Hi! Thanks for the review. It helped make up my mind NOT to buy the walkman. Sound quality is a big deal for me but your emphasis on the practicality of the phone convinced me that after a month or so I would be back to listenening to music on the phone rather than the walkman. Glad that could help. I definitely see the benefit of using the Walkman, and honestly, I regret that I've returned it since this review. But at the time of filming, it just didn't make sense to carry two devices, especially when the phone had more options. The missing texts and calls point is a good one too. I didn't think of that one.

heh Ok, well i dgaf about texts or calls, anyone callin without an appointment is getting the voicemail, and sound quality on a phone is pathethic. When I listen to music I get very angry if anything iterrupts, regardless of who or why. That's why i have a walkman.

I think in some ways you have missed the point of owning this little mp3 player. Phones do everything you have mentioned, in fact I use my phone every now and then to listen to my own library. The problem I have with your review is that you mention you have to keep dragging and dropping things and it takes time out of your schedule. I think people that are very into music 'audiophiles' we like to have what you would call high definition music, which includes FLAC format files. These files give you amazing quality sound, something phones rarely can do properly. If you want good quality sound just avoid bluetooth altogether as well.

Nah, I definitely understand that point for sure. I did mention that the sound quality was definitely better on the Walkman than it was on a phone, especially plugged into headphones. It was more a factor of convenience. I can pull my phone out and all the music is there. With the Walkman, I have to go to my computer and add those files. Just a matter of simplicity is all.

Totally Agree with Alfred. Plus When you have a dedicated hi res player you dont need to be wifi dependent to listen to your songs. You carry your collection in the player stored. This comes so handy when im on a flight or lets say when i travel with little to no network areas.

Depends on what you are seeking for. Some legal websites for mp3 files are: - the iTunes Store - Amazon If you want FLAC files (CD quality), go to - store.tidal.com - Bandcamp (for 'amateur' music) - 7Ditigal - HDtracks - Qobuz There are plenty of other websites, so compare prices online if you wish. I can also recommend you buying used CDs that you rip. That way, I could get a physical format and a FLAC or even mp3 file straight from the disc for under a couple of bucks. You can get used CDs for very cheap on eBay for example. Other services or websites I could recommend you if you want inexpensive music to listen before you purchase it are Deezloader Remix and rutracker.

First of all Raf you're to trainers what Flossy Carter is with Bluetooth Speakers,you have hundreds of them.And when it comes to your argument about not really needing the Sony NW A45 Mp3 which i also have for listening to music i understand your point but to me not really valid.My argument is if you love playing your music in better quality then the inconvenience of having to constantly copy and paste music files to an Mp3 isn't a hardship.I've tons of Reggae music that i bought on vinyl back in the 80's and more recently i have Reggae cds and R n' B music that i rip on my laptop and then copy and paste to my Sony Mp3 player.A few months ago i bought an Amazon Echo Studio Speaker and i've decided after the 3 months free HD music trial i won't be paying for the subscription service as to me i can Bluetooth my music library from my laptop or Mp3 Player and save myself forking out money for nothing.The quality of the HD music from Amazon isn't miles better than my Mp3 files.HD music like many things is just exaggerated in terms of quality.Also i don't see the point of using subscription service when alot of the music i will have in my Reggae collection anyway.In my mind subscription service for music really is for people who don't have vinyl or cd collection of their own.Love your views though very good insight and imformative.Keep up the good work
