Hey okJLUV! Love the videos you put out! So I recently bought a double blaze booster box for my sealed collection on amazon jp from a seller with good reviews and the box itself checks out fine with everything you mentioned in the video. But when I tilt the box left to right it feels like the cards inside are really loose compared to other japanese boxes I've bought before. Was wondering if this was a common thing or if it shouldn't have much movement in the box and should be a snug fit?
@okJLUV3 жыл бұрын
@@lawrencechen9568 Hey Lawrence, that sounds a bit peculiar. If you can show me photos of the box in question I might be able to help. Best place to post is in the Discord - link is in the video description!

I got my first Japanese cards and definitely noticed the difference. The bolder colours and the glossy, waxy smooth finish had me concerned. But hard to imagine fake shiny star v cards exist already.
@chazz51123 жыл бұрын
A little tip for those beginning to collect Japanese cards in 2021, as of late some Japanese stores have begun the practice of removing the seal from a booster box in an effort to prevent scalping, so whether your booster box arrives to you sealed or not, always make sure first and foremost that you're purchasing from reputable sellers and stores, do your research before you buy and you should be fine
@digitalshadowfox7203 жыл бұрын
how about amazon? idk tcg player is difficult to find on there i remember seeing one box on tcg player but how about amazon is it safe?
@chazz51123 жыл бұрын
@@digitalshadowfox720 Amazon often contains products sold by multiple sellers, so it's always worth checking a seller's review score before buying from them, and even dropping them a message if you're unsure of something in particular about a product, but the majority of the time it seems like a relatively safe place to buy, just can never be too careful

This is a massive relief. After a couple of years of buying English cards, I became used to how to check for fake English cards, and since recently I’ve begun to get Japanese cards as well, I was actually pretty concerned. The booster box I had just opened didn’t appear to have anything fishy going on, but the cards felt thin, the rip test didn’t have a black layer, only a blue one, and the light test didn’t work. I was half convinced I had paid for a fake booster box. This video specifically gave me the peace of mind I needed. I’m relieved.

Hi there! I'm a seller of mostly vintage cards and just recently started branching into newer and Japanese cards, and just wanted to thank you for this video! I just got a lot of loose cards in from Japan; they looked good, the text and font etc. didn't look different but even though the seller had 100% positive feedback I wasn't sure because I'm not familiar with the Japanese GX etc. I sacrificed a couple to the rip test because they are thinner and the light test can't really be trusted so I wanted to be sure they were legit, and I'm happy to say they do appear to be. Thanks again!

Also!! If you look at a certain area on the back of the card where there is detail you can usually spot a fake. For example there is two white split lines that run on the right side of the pokeball on the english cards I look at. On fakes the small details are blurred. So you can pick a detail yourself. Agreed though ripping is not a bad method either.

i got worried when I had gotten japenese cards. did the seller give me fakes (whether on purpose or didnt know). Ive been getting a bunch for my nephew's birthday. he likes japenese cards. i havent collected in years. but i remember the light test (place it up against a light. if back (or front) shows its fake. I did test with japenese cards and they are. but got to know that doesnt nesciary mean they are fake. i could tear the card but then would be possibly ruining a good card. my nephew seems he is fine for fakes (if they are) he has some. I even told him light trick (he knows the tear trick) but will tell him japenese cards are made different

@DriftQueenCL3 жыл бұрын
The most easy to spot fake pokemon cards is the the card is too flinzy, color too dark, the name and HP number make no sense pokemon names got changed and the card is made of cardboard than high quality paper print. Also if u ever smell fake cards it has strong chemicals may have toxic paint. The real cards smell new and dont have strong chemicals. That is how u can tell fake and real cards.

I just bought some Eevee hero’s full arts and I am still a bit unsure if they are real or not, I felt two of the cards and I could feel some texture not as much as an English one but Ik Japanese texture is thinner and smaller than English ones. It's different for Base set. This video only covers sets from 2017-2021 - when you go further back than that, it becomes a bit trickier to identify fakes, but also easier because there are fakes you can compare with. If you love Gen 3 Pokemon, try and buy a Booster Box of Charisma of the Cracked Sky - it's a little expensive now, but a great set. I'm thinking about buying some 20 pack lots of dream league on mercari japan since they're listed much cheaper than buying a box. Should i be cautious of weighed packs?
@okJLUV3 жыл бұрын
Yes, be very cautious. Because Japanese Booster Boxes generally have 1 SR per box, so if you find the SR in the first 10 packs, then you know the other 20 packs will likely not have a SR inside. With Dream League, there are 3 CHR per Box and 1 SR per box. So you might still find the CHR in loose packs, but the SR can easily be sequenced from a sealed Booster Box. On top of that, Japanese packs don't have code cards inside. Which means they're very easy to weigh. I personally wouldn't do it, just tread carefully.
