The thing is, MW keeps you engaged on the story with Rog or Mia talking about your progress, or Razor yeah talking you. Or Cross getting increasingly pissed and threatening with the player. Everytime you beat someone they tell you either how much is missing for the next area unlock or how long was the way to that point, or you get threats or mind games from the opposing sides. In Carbon, the intervals between plot interactions are way too long, it doesn't feel as well connected and steady as MW, they dump a lot on you in very spaced periods. MW feels much better.

hell no, carbon is way shorter than most wanted and because of that the cutscenes are abundant enough in carbon, the fun of the game and growing of your crew expands the story enough, yet the only story you get through MW is the first and last cutscenes, and voice clicks that are way too repetitive, specially since most wanted itself drags on for way too long, still stand by carbon being the best because from the get go, carbon was made in the understand to improve upon every single aspect from most wanted, especially the story, which it definitely did

You could say the same thing about every movie or any other story in existence. Movies and stories are always unrealistic because at the end of the day its just acting. Stories are always created by someone, even when talking about stories that are based on real events, they are still presented in the light that the writer think is the best way to present them. In the end, its up to you to decide which do you personally think is good and which is not.

I too think that the revenge story is really good in MW05 and works really well. You spend like only a couple minutes with the M3 GTR but you already know that it's one of a kind. When the car is taken away, it genuinely feels like something you've cared for, for years has been taken away from you. The fact that Razor made his way to the top of the Blacklist using your car only solidifies that resolve in you that you NEED to get this guy and bury his arrogant ass. When you finally get to drive the M3 again, it's one of the most satisfying moments ever. Cross is incorporated in nice manner as well. How he lets you go in the beginning thinking you're just another loser racing in Rockport and is probably gonna lose their car on the first day of street racing but slowly he learns "holy shit this guy is fuckin good"

It's a very common tactic: showing you the best thing that you can be so you wish you have it again. It's very common to see in racing games and mmo's. They give you OP stuff at first so you're hooked. And then they take it away telling you "you want this OP stuff again? You need to grind" And the idea is that you go behind that excitement and feeling of empowerement again. Also in MMO's is to force you to spend money too

Most Wanted had the best story because of the concept of how the story was told, working your way up the ladder and taking down the blacklist felt so rewarding and like real boss fights in a racing game. It was just executed so well and the game was SO fun to play. I once spent 5 hours in a single cop chase in that game whilst on the phone to my girlfriend. These days I couldn't imagine getting a whole 5 hours to play a game in one sitting and I certainly wouldn't want to spend 5 hours on the phone to literally anyone in the world. How life changes as you grow up lol

To be honest, my favorite story was NFS Heat in terms of mistery, storytelling and plot. I already know that in the franchise we can't ask for a REALLY GOOD story because of the context (races) and public target. It's almost impossible that a game like this have a good story, but i think that Heat brings another levels of layers, it takes cinematographic concepts to another level, made three dimensional characters that compliments perfectly in the atmosphere and the problems of the society like the corruption. The game dares to raise conflicts that includes important institutions like the police departement involved with illegal car/parts traffic. The big problem is that the story/game is WAY TOO SHORT and drastically cuts the story in a very involving point.

I still think they can do better, in terms of gameplay. Less arcadey, and more sim-like. I know the majority fanbase prefers the smooth and fluid, arcade-style they use, but I wouldn't mind a little more realism. Just one time, but don't make it completely sim-like, and NO FORZA ripoff either lol. I don't know how they would do this. Maybe I'm just being stupid. Be careful what you wish for and all that 😅. It all comes down to personal preference, I for one think that carbon still has some of the best cutscenes (considering the limiting amount of cutscenes) and darius is still one of my favorite antagonists mainly on the fact that he had the power and resources to take everything from you and he knew it. He didn’t want to take your car; he wanted to take EVERYTHING and wipe you off the face of the earth. And I especially like how cocky but serious he gets depending on the situation.

i think i have a good idea for 2 storys for NFS, for EA one would be a backstory before rockport on how we end up with the m3 gtr because when we leave carbon in supra we end up going to rockport but their is a timeskip between them so i think it would be a good story and second would be a prequel for the run on shaw, how he ends up in dept and his backstory i think it would be good. i think these 2 stories would be really good if they are written good

I didn't know the protagonist ran TO Rockport from Palmont and came back to figure everything out... The big problem in Carbon's gameplay is that the free roaming and cop chases are literally useless. I found myself in Carbon just jumping to garage for the next event because the cops appeared too often and were more of a nuisance than anything. You couldn't really do anything with them, there was no point in having cops whatsoever. If they added some mechanics from MW in terms of objectives for one thing it could extend the game time and it could make it more interesting. Also, the cities for me always felt empty. Sure it was at night but the city felt lifeless regardless

my favorite need for speed is carbon because the gameplay felt so nice, normally i like realism but the arcady feel of both carbon and mw felt so good and the story is amazing everything about those games is amazing the reason i pick need for speed carbon over most wanted is because of the replay value, the car customization, the acting, (nostalgia) and gameplay but i do love most wanted as well but i gotta say after 30 times of playing through carbon over and over and beating darious with almost every car was so much fun ;D

As cringe as NFS 2015 was, by the end of it the characters actually grew on me for some reason. I just wish the dialogue was more, human… 😂

What EA needs to do is put together Heat and MW style storytelling where you go against Blacklist racers with Cops hot on your tail. Give it like 10-15 hour long campaign and you got a great racing game with nice story.

As far as intros go, Hot Pursuit 2 is the goat. Had absolutely no story so I understand why it wasn't included, but the Murcialago V Barchetta intro is iconic imo. It's so hype inducing

Carbon and Pro Street are my favorites. Undercover on PS2 was also pretty good. If you've only ever played the 360 and PS3 versions I don't blame you for thinking it's a bad game but the PS2 version's gameplay was the same as Most Wanted and Carbon so it played just like those 2 games.

I know this is about the games, but I really enjoyed the movie. A pretty underrated videogame movie imo. It was a good revenge story with strong motivations for the characters. It even had videogame-like progression where Tobey had to race his way up to the big leagues for the boss fight! The actors really nailed their roles too. Genuinely a fun movie that nicely captures the spirit of the games.

Yes, they are. Cutscenes and dialogues in racing videogames are normally really cringe. FH5 and F1 games for example. But I appreciate what they did in NFS 2015 cause at least I was kinda invested into that story

@@nicktronson2977 Oh yeah, Hot Pursuit 2 is peak NFS by the best NFS developers. While Most Wanted is my second favorite game in the series, the constant praise it gets is tiring, still, Most Wanted is a good game, but nowhere near as good as HP2. The first Hot Pursuit from 1998 and Criteron’s Hot Pursuit also deserve a shoutout in my opinion.

to be honest I personally liked the need for speed 2005 story and the carbon because the Mach together, for example the carbon version says that you left with the supra and some paper, in my opinion I do not know quite right but I think when you left the carbon world and then you went into the need for speed most wanted world and than when you finished the 2005 game which is need for speed most wanted 2005 game you went back from where you ran to for example carbon when he mentions it that you ran off witch gave me this feeling that those two games have a story about the player and what he was doing.

I used to have an idea like this quite a while ago in the past but the storyline to it would be a bit different than what's stated here: Instead of that, what I think should happen with the DLC is Joe's revenge based on his jealousy after hearing words that you as The Player have made it big with Ana in Palm City by successfully taking down Mercer - the corrupt head of the PD's speed enforcers in town - and even made it to The League or something it was called when he thought that he could've been the one getting all those spotlights in that big screen, that's what his return of revenge will be based out of
