My only issues with pro scouts as a gold n00b: - sometimes scouts just stop working and they decide to pick up deer and not bring it back. I don't notice because I shiftclicked all deer on the map and forget about it :D - around 10mins I have like 3k surplus food because I don't notice the insane income - when deer runs out, it feels like I hit a brick wall and just lose the game cause idk what to do xD

i dont think it necessarily means people are camping I think food has just become a more important resource in the sense that the boost to food per minute from gathering deer makes it worth it. but its also the fact that workers are so valuable especially early game so any tech or strategy that lets you stay close to your main tc with your villagers is valuable

They need to further slow the speed of scout while carrying deer or increase the cost of tech by 30 gold and duration by another 20 seconds. These micro changes should be enough. Nothing major is required. This is such a good identity tech for aoe4.

I started doing pro scouts in 2 maps, which works; nobody was doing that in the past; I never encountered anyone doing that, but lately people started doing that... It works on two maps, not all... which boosts you up if the other team doesn't rush you... You will not need any pasture through the whole game, just a villager on food and gold, x3 stables, and then just fire them off...If you get age up to feudal and build a kurultai, you can easily wipe the other out: +20% more damage + upgrades.

Deer herds cover a large enough area to the point that the wall not only ends up being extremely expensive, but also painfully slow to build, not to mention too easy to block with one of the scouts, or just killing the vill outright with a horseman as civs beside Rus will make a stable for the scouts. Making a tiny triangle to wall in relics is already costly enough. Walling in a deer pack would be like 5 to 6 times the cost and take that much longer. Too many reasons as to why it wouldn't be effective.

I think they fix it by either making it lose food if you pick up the deer, or if you leave it where it's at and collect it with a mill or second tc there, it's buffed.

As diamond till low conq 1 player: I think the changes are good. But it supports my playstile. Basically, the action has just been simplified. More don’t changed. And that way you can motivate the player who is always sitting in the base, playing defensive turtles, to leave the base. But I understand everyone who had fun with it and now has to change their style of play. But that's the way it is with the meta. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I think pro scouting will now be as normal as gathering sheep. The changes with the siege hurts me more.

I agree. delhi already had the option of it and it was something they could do as a little oft-forgotten trick with good apm even despite the long investment, but now if everyone's doing it because its so easy, delhi will never be able to do it well because they'll research it far too late for it to matter anymore due to slower research. and then it is just a race to pro scouts. what is wild is how fast china can get pro scouts, get a stable, and steal all the deer and go castle before anyone can even counter them because of all the taxes. pro scouts needs probably a research time nerf if anything, because it is already rather expensive, or maybe have the scouts move slower with deer than they do now. it should be a strat, not the only strat. it makes taking out food vils that much harder as well if you actually want to go fight in feudal because they're all so easily able to hide under tc fire.

why is everyone here commenting is so blind and pepega? the feudal gameplay is beautiful. pro scouts is fine. the only problem im seeing and making beasty mald is in imperial age. hes malding about elephant being too tanky and bombard is unstoppable since theres no counter to it.

well maybe now you understand people complaining about guides. guides are like pro scouts. if you dont follow a guide, you're at a disadvantage. gone is your exploration of the game at your pwn pace and gone is the creativity. whereas low level games would be a shitshow and be chaotic and creative in a way, now you are forced to fit the mould(or lose) and the creativity is reserved only for those at the top that can handle the build orders by muscle memory and know the game by heart and can afford to be creative(whereas a paepaga would be punished by a paepaega with a build order that had no bussiness punishing him otherwise)

I'm not sure if you actually play this game? Following guides gets you to maybe plat 1 or plat 2 at best. Above that (or maybe even earlier) guides fall apart unless you have creativity and deep game knowledge. And below plat, nobody is following a guide so matchmaking will put you against people who are playing at similar skill level. So what it sounds like is that you want to be high rank, like in the top 10-20% of players, without knowing how to play the game.
