Adam, I fully commend your commitment to that test. It’s not easy to intentionally take a fall. The video captured it perfectly. I could literally see the point of inflation when you were about 8-9 above the ground. And the audible “pop” was clear. Glad you didn’t hurt anything else in the process. We are the same age and injuries just plainly take longer to get over than they used too. 😂

Thanks for the video Adam, I'm home recovering from 5 broken ribs on my Yamaha T7 and I was reading up on this airbag. The people in the store have told me that there is only circuit and street mode, and I have been a little undecided. Now after watching your fantastic video I am more sure to buy it. There are still people in their 60s and 70s at some motorcross tracks, it really depends how active you were when you were younger, no way can you go from a couch potato to a MX rider at any age, it is just too much on your body. Adam's father was a very good rider and he rode till his late age as well. Adam is a legend.

Top video, I have a Helite E Vest that you wear over your jacket. I came off a few months back and it had deployed before I hit the tarmac. This design stabilises your kneck and goes down your back protecting the base of your spine. All I can say is that like you I am sold and now i will not ride anywhere without it. All I had to do to reset the vest was to buy a new cylinder and it was good to go again. The bike was a bit more challenging 😮

Adam, a mate and I some 20 years ago were riding our Tenere's, and rescued a fella who was heading along the road at a fair old click around Newnes in NSW. He was certainly travelling at 100+km/h on his BMW K1200, when a ute pulled out from the other side of the crest in the road. He hit that ute almost square on, and I think it was called a Hit Air jacket that he was wearing and had only just recently been released for road use at the time, and that thing 100% saved his life. It had a gas cartridge down in the bottom right side of the jacket from memory. However, in doing so, had my mate and I not got to him as soon as we did, the air jacket, which instantly expanded like your AlpineStars jacket did, was built in around the neck and shoulder area and all the way around the torso, and was pushing up strongly against his helmet. As the helmet was being pushed up, the strap was pushing into his neck so hard that it was blocking his airway, and he already had a swollen tongue when we got to him, probably 20-30 seconds after the impact with the ute. Glad to say, we visited him in hospital a few days later, and although badly banged up, that fella would not have been alive without the jacket. Seems now all I need to do, is to get myself another Tenere and get back in the saddle and get me a rider airbag . . . Not sure whether it'll be a 90's flavour warhorse or a new World Raid in the near future, because that new CP2 motor with the Akropovic does sound gorgeous!

Great! love it, just started riding again after 25 years, bought a new KLR650 last November, been riding around Melbourne city and weekend rider. I finally feel like I am friends with the bike. I have limited off road experience, had a TT350 for 3 years when I lived in outback QLD (Yaraka country) but this KLR is a little heavier. I have learned a lot from you plus the 'Champ U' course which taught a lot about trail braking. So you can see I am a bit of a novice when it comes to offroad. Thanks to your videos, I'll be safter out there that is for sure. I get the fear factor lol, healthy adrenalin rush, because I'm 20 years also than you with a a 10th of your experience. lol. If you run a course, I am in!, just a bit of a ride from Melbourne :-)

I had one of those airbag vests as a street rider. Smacked an suv that pulled in front of me. Played Superman cartwheel in the air to pavement. Only partial fracture to one vertebrae. No surgery. Should have been in a wheelchair otherwise. Plan on lightweight off-road dual sport when I finish healing. I'll be wearing an airbag vest. Maybe one of mechanical tether styles until the recharge fees come down on the electronic. But that Alpinestars tech air is my pick of the electronic vests.

Sitting here watching this, I am just over 2 months since i shattered my shoulder (4 part proximal humerus fracture) and I am absolutely sold. The healing process sucks, especially as you get older. Curious how this works in other environments? Could you use this for skiing as well or is the algorithm only for motorcycle applications? I want one for every sport I do now. Truly, I'd pay just about anything not to go through this again.

Alpine Stars stress to read the user manual, one of the caveats of its use is it's not for Enduro or Off Road riding, and that after deployment it has to be returned for service. It also needs charging every 30 hours. Street is for street / good gravel road use only (in big red type in the manual), Race is for 100kmh+ track use. Great video and no doubt great product for road and 'Adventure' riders when maintained properly.

Excellent, but this means you have to wear your bag back loose (or not at all) to allow airbag deployment; it would be nice if AStars could sell an optional waterbag bundle to use along with this airbag jacket. I'm seriously considering this; I ride dunes often, so carrying water is necessary. Thank you for the review.

I can see the use for highway riding where you would normally hit above 80mph just to keep up and ahead of traffic, but riding a dirt bike, a neck brace and a spine protector will do just fine, cause most falls will be way under 40mph as we saw here. It's the impact at high speed that kills most riders. Never ride without a neck brace if you want to live! I know, cause I have over half a million miles of riding experience and Adam intentionally fell just to activate the jacket; he is an exceptional rider and a truly a legend.
@jr.6199
@jr.6199 4 ай бұрын
Beware, the neck brace has to fit just right, and into your upper garment/gear. I tried 3 different brands, yes Leatt has the chest protector designed to fit their neck brace together...and none on my neck would stop the hyperextension backwards. Neck braces sounds good on paper but they need more work or more customization. A soft level 2 donut works better on a Bionic protectors or the TA5 airbag, which inflates up to the helmet rim, to potentially stop hyperextension when needed. Just for info, buyer beware.

The air bag may save damage to your chest, organs, ribs etc but if you freeze frame the fall you can clearly see your first point of impact was your right forearm followed by your head. So you you still end up with broken collarbone, shattered elbow, neck injury etc. Do the manufacturers produce one which covers the arms?

My mate got knocked off by a car, right in front of me. His inflatable jacket saved him from serious injury, only had bruises. This sort of technology is a game changer.😊👍🏻

🤣🤣🤣 PMSL yeah I've been looking at a few different brands of them, some very expensive and require a subscription, but I like the Alpinestars airbags. We'll see. Thanks for the demo Adam loved it, ready for a pub fight 🤣🤙👍

Let's get real here. If your going to buy this vest then you may as well sell your bike and buy a fwd. I bet that was the first and last time Mr reimann wears that thing. He rides a t7 and is a skilled rider and doesn't need to compensate for lack of skill other wise he would ride the latest and greatest with all the rider aids. Go hard Adam, by the way, everything you had on was alpine star. The tech heads love this stuff.what a legend of a salesman
