I thought i was having a heart attack but it was shingles, doctor told me i had torn a shoulder muscle. Pain was off the scale. Lasted 12 weeks and left me with chronic fatigue symptoms. I was put on antivirals and amytriptilene. Pain was like stabbing electric shocks. Nightime was worst no sleep.

Last night I was suffering I think it was been six days of shingles so painful. I every second was pain. I didn’t know how I was going to get past the next second let along a minute I hadn’t slept for days it seems but I thought how am I going to get through this, how did Jesus get through being on the cross suffering for us for three days and I can’t even do a second so through my teaching in life, I heard testimonies of taking communion at home by myself. I have had it AGAIN for the past several days. I feel like I have the flu and so much pain wrapped around the left flank to my mid abdomen. Sick of it. I had shingles 8 years ago..and it has not left me....every few weeks I would get 2 or 3 spots...painful as hell, what I have found is putting an ice pack on it which releases the pain for a while... My doctor is so puzzle as he said he's never known anyone that keeps on having it continuously.

I got recurrence four times a years but I suffer from first shingles in my face then 4 years later stated in my leg and ever since 20 years later to today I am still Having brakes twice or four a year take valtre/valacyclivir it goes a way a couple of months and I have been like this 25 years. Doctor don’t have compassion specially specialist in infectious disease, I ask question why I get so often they don’t say nothing don’t send me with another specialist so if it damages the nerves should I go and see specialist for thenerves system or a dermatologist no they don’t send me no where.

Do not tell people it only happen on one side of the body , my mother had it right around her body , she was seen by 3 doctors was sick for 2 month but recover well and never had recurrences . Hi James I got it on the left side of my face almost 6 years ago also in my left eye I thought I had prickly heat at first and and pink eye infection only to find out that I had a serious case of shingles. Fortunately I found a wonderful ophthalmologist that weekend when I was looking for a doctor so it did save my eye Took a long time for the shingles to go much more than the normal time and it never totally went completely every now and then it would just keep coming back and every time I get stressed and even now I suddenly look like I have measles and now it’s on the other side of my face mirror imaging actually . Very very itchy feeling like hair stuck to my face on cream that I can’t get off the pain and headache real pain was only when I initially got the shingles as far as headache and stuff goes as well. I keep taking the valacyclovir medication it really doesn’t seem to help I realized you just have to make your immune system strong and all it does is suppress the virus a little bit perhaps. I look after my mother who is 101 all by myself so it’s very very stressful and I get not enough sleep. I’m very very tired all the time. I was reading on KZbin from another doctor that to try to build your immune system with 3000 mg of L-lysine taken and three pills three times a day, keep up your B vitamins and your zinc and your vitamin C and your vitamin D three. Try to drink some thing like Kiefer that is filled with probiotics that are live. I realize that rest and getting rid of the stress is the only thing that will really fix the immune system. May God help you and heal you. I found that putting raw manuka honey on the spots really helped the itch for awhile and seemed to help.

I had shingles too,,just early this year….and it still has residual pain. Months and months ago. I was lucky in that I started having the pain on a Sunday night. It was rapidly moving.,got worse and within hours, I was near the screaming level. My bad luck, it was one of those Large patches that extended from 5or 6 back bones and downward to the hip top area. Then it moved to around the front of the hip and the large colon area inside was in pain too. It was at least 7 inches wide . Less wide in front but just as painful. It dropped down to the front of the hip bones and ..one spot..in berween. Thise, thank God, were lesser lesions. Id seen a small patch on hubby maybe 20 years before so I didn’t eed tomguess what it was. It was late at night but I had no intention of going to ER…a silky idea.. ut..I had appointment with my doctor the next day at 10:45 and wanted to wait..we’ll..didn’t really want to wait any longer, as said..I was near the screaming pain by then. When I got to doctors,,I was only patient in the waiting room,,thank heavens for that too. Was escorted to exam room and told nurse ..I think I have shingkes…and she said let’s have a look. And she she said..OH MY..and went to fetch the doctor right away. And here comes the important oart fora home breaking out after reading this…when Dr. Came in exam room.,she too said,,well let’s see it. And she also said..it sure is..shingkes.,how does it feel..? Told her, then she says ..we have a therapy we can do if you’re up to it and it’s..Almost like a miracle. It stops the pain immediately. And of course I said let’s hear it. And she said..it’s an electric stimulation kind of therapy. It takes an hour and you do it here. Strip down into exam gown,,we pad and cover exam table, you lay on your side opposite of the breakout and we apply warm very wet towels woth slecial,electric wires in them..sort of like electric heating blanket only these are special made for wet therapy. I’ve since seen that size latch online for the video demos. Well,,hiur was up and they got busy drying me off with some vigor and Dr. came back in..she was excited because she’d seen the miracles before,,asked me about the pain that unsaid had been at the screaming level..and most All that pain was gone. What a sorry mess of typing words that is…sorry I couldn’t correct it….but.lthe only name I know the therapy by is wet electrical stimulation..and described how the actual therapy involved was done. And it works very very well. However.li must correct my statement that shingles never bothered me again. I learned after doing the therapy that since shingles are an infection on the major nerve system in the spine… the victim can be hurting again from something the inflammation caused when shingles was active in your present day body. But some people never have any sudden effects anywhere in their body. In this USA tho..a therapist may be hard to find as this is nit regarded a standard medicine. Great talk! I am dealing with very painful shingles right now. My doc 1 week ago prescribed acyclovir and 900 MG of gabapentin daily. It barely helped. As of yesterday she changed it to 1800 MG of gabapentin daily and Valacyclovir, and finally gave me a short supply of pain meds. I am 73 and never got the vaccine because my former doctor said not to, as being a live vaccine it was contraindicated by the RA injections I was getting. Nobody told me there was a NEW vaccine. SHINGREX, which is not live virus based. So now I am miserable and missing out last week, this week and probably next week on some fun activities. I am normally very fit, active, and healthy.
