Smartphone brands love to play tricks on us sometimes. They come up with things that often don't matter as part of your experience with a smartphone, but they sure know how to make you feel like they are super important.
In this video I call out a few of those things and help you understand what certain smartphone terminologies and specification really mean when brands and we KZbinrs mention them in our video.

Samsung provides credit to obtain with their flagships and mid tier and below they provide it, if you're in the business of purchasing flagships you understand this, the history of these phones have been very generous in years past were i had so many chargers it was crazy, I totally agree it should be provided in some form especially for the newbies and at least samsung still finds a way, others don't.

I'm using 25w samsung charger, and I dont see the hype around charging at all. Sometimes you really need it But most times you don't, and people don't go change the setting every time. Could be worse for the battery as well. You have sockets on bikes and cars anyways. And you have sockets elsewhere to charge too. To me, im surprised the camera is even improving in flagship phones in the first place, otherwise i don't really see how s24 is so much better than the s10 or how the new iphone 15 pro max or 16 next year will really be that much of a stop forward compared to the iPhone 11. Most stuff is in software now too, and even that seems to be stagnating.

@mobiscrub
@mobiscrub 2 күн бұрын
Hey, iPhone's ProRres and Samsung's 8K video are completely different things. ProRes is about capturing more dynamic data while shooting videos while 8K is just a higher resolution recording format. ProRes footage is more flexible considering the dynamic data involved - and so it can be color corrected to look a certain way that the editor requires. 8K on the other hand is meant for higher resolution playback - that's all.

Excellent video, Mobi. I agree completely with what you're saying. I plug my phone in every night, so charging speed doesn't matter. And I don't understand wireless charging; is plugging in a cable once a day really that much of a burden? I'm no Ansel Adams, so I don't need a super fancy camera. You can buy an 8K TV here (for about $10K) but nobody makes 8K content, so you'd only be watching your own videos. I am rarely, if ever, in a situation where I can't see my screen because the sun is too bright. And if it is, I live in a city, not a desert, there's always some shade available somewhere. If I wanted to be dazzled by BS and pay 10x what a phone is worth, I'd buy an iPhone.😁 Thanks to reviewers like you, I now look for value in things like update support, longevity, processor performance & reliability.

As someone has that is known for having burn in issues with every oled device. Having brighter displays helps because the oled displays have gotten dimmer and the white colors turn yellow like a clear cell phone case that turns yellow. I wish there was an option to have a mini led display on smartphones so the issues like burn in will be eliminated permanently. I treat all the displays the same whether they are oled or a non oled displays and it's guaranteed to have to be have burn in issues with the way I treat every oled displays and the display brightness degrading.

Charging speed argument fell flat because yes, we do need charging speeds to be high. With batteries getting bigger, it takes hours for charging your phone. Being able to have the convenience to do it in minutes is a life saver. Yes, we do not need these speeds, but we then ask for innovation from these brands. Let them continue developing these technologies and making it better with each iteration.

Just an opinion, yeah, the super fast battery doesn't really mean a lot for a long time, but over the duration of you using the phone, it makes more and more sense, the super fast charging compensates for the battery health degradation, so it doesn't make sense for someone who upgrades every 1-2 years, but for the people who use the same phone for 4+ years, superfast charging makes a lot of sense.

that's not what I'm saying..I'm saying the addition 24 Hz between 120 and 144 is not significant. Between 120 and 144 Hz, normally, people won't be able to tell the difference.

Did you know Samsung phone will force switch network to 4G when it detected you're downloading big file after like 2 minutes to conserve battery. While my Oneplus 11 can download 80GB file on 5G continuously. Very stupid to market as 5G phone for this limitation. But they still think they have the decency to troll other company like Apple.

the megapixel part isn't a scam. actually in pixel binning technology, it helps a lot if you have more pixels to bin meaning you have a cleaner shot plus stacked hdr and secondly more pixels mean you can record 8k videos. finally, its especially great when you want landscape/architectural shots that require lots of detail.

I am not saying that the use case does not exist. But it's just isn't something that many people will use. Millions buy a phone and not 0.1% of them will ever tap that 8K button or even know about it. But do note - the R&D cost that is part of the retail price will be borne by all customers. All I'm trying to say is that for those rare 0.1% of users who will sometimes use a single feature, it doesn't make sense to increase the cost for the bulk of the users.

@@mobiscrub I bet you if apple does this, everyone will be using it. everything is a gimmick and overrated until apple does it. honestly I love android because these things exist. and trust me if someone buys a flagship rest assured they use 8k and 200mp shots. no one buys phones that have these features if they're not going to use it, it's the main selling point.

Well, smartphone innovation has gotten slow. I don't believe smartphones have peaked. We thought smartphones had peaked until foldables came out... then rollables... and things will keep getting better. It's just that the focus these days are on trivial features that don't really add as much value to actual user experience.

I prefer a curved screen and can't stand a flat phone. I don't even know why this is still a conversation point. You know, flat phones have accidental touches as well. Apple paid a lot of people to degrade anything and everything that's not an iPhone. Think about it for a min.
@mobiscrub
@mobiscrub 3 күн бұрын
The issues I described with curved displays are genuine. Accidental touches can happen with flat, but there are more probable with curved. It's also a fact that you don't find as many tempered screen protectors, they are more likely to crack on a fall and they do reflect glare on the sides. These issues are much less pronounced with flat displays. It doesn't mean people can't prefer curved displays for how nice they feel in hand and how good they look... But functional issues like the ones i described are real
