Mike Tomlin is saying that they need to be great, and to know fully their capabilities. That means they need to be able to asses Russell's ability, irrespective of whether or not he is better or worse than Justin. I would NOT have done that, but I understand Mike's position. Now that he is in, I am curious to see how he does.

People hating on with Russell did in 2023 better go look at their favorite quarterback and compare the stats. Cuz Russell did this in a toxic environment where his coach did not like him and the whole organization had blamed him. When they never got him the pieces he need he took the players as is and went to win w them. Denver bronco media Probably was the worst media I've seen in the NFL. Between the Seahawks and Pittsburgh they both are way better. It's a way healthier place in Pittsburgh than Denver. Sean Payton's ego is through the roof

Go look at Steelers schedule. They are currently 4-2. Squeaking by in a few of those wins. They know fields ceiling. They have Bengals twice. Ravens twice! Chiefs! Jets. Eagles. Commanders. We’re talking potentially 8 losses just right there if you stay with Fields. You’re hoping defense stays the same but Russ can create some down the field big throws. Unless Russ loses 3 in a row, he will keep job.
@vegastjg53 минут бұрын
Yes they are since Russ was brought there 1st and was named the starter off top until his calf injury. Being 4-2 allows coach T time to figure out if Russ still has it which could be an upgrade for the o.

You're right, the Steelers did do the right thing. I'm hoping Russ does his thing so the Squealers don't hog up a wildcard spot and get destroyed by the Texans, Bills or Ravens and we get a good playoff game instead.

Aaron Rodgers or Russ Wilson . I’m goin Russ . Take the stats out of the equation and just the leader ship mentality Russ has opposed to a whole highlight reel of Rodgers throwing his hands up, rolling his eyes, dropping his head. When the general is defeated on the field , how do all the young guys behind him have a chance to rise up…

Tomlin is playing with his legacy right now. Trying to prove he can win without Ben Roethlisberger when in reality he's Jeff Fisher without Ben. This will blow up in Tomlins face and be worse on his record than keeping Canada. Russ is the wrong move. You can't tell me Denver ate all that money and didn't know.

Issue with the steelers now is that they start slow, and watching russ in seattle for all of his career, one of my biggest gripes with him as a player was him starting slow. He than would work his magic in the 4th quarter, and spring a comeback with his scrambles and magic. I don't know if he has that magic anymore, and he's no longer spring chicken, but even with all that, Fields ain't winning you a superbowl. Dude can't throw.

What about the playing scheme, o-line and talent at receiver would give you the impression that you can constantly throw for a lot of yards? Putting points on the board is all that matters, passing or running. You guys are delusional.

Justin Fields is having a better season this than Russell Wilson had last year up to this point and he’s winning games. The Steelers have o line and running game issues. The QB can’t fix those.
@ianmcclure39362 сағат бұрын
Yeah, but Wilson had 26 TD's last year though and is a much better passer of the football, not saying Justin hasn't been good, but not being able to throw the ball down field and only relying on your legs won't last forever. At least Wilson will give you the spark the team needs to go down the field and score.
@mb74802 сағат бұрын
Justin has 10 TDs and is on pace to having a similar amount of TDs as Russell Wilson did last year while not turning the ball over nearly as much. He’s already outperforming Russell Wilson last year up to this point. Justin has had some bad throws but receivers have also been dropping passes a lot lately so you can’t fault him for that. You can fault him for the bad throws but he’s being pressured on 80% of snaps with a weak o line and no running game. If receivers were catching passes and the run game were to improve, all of that can help give the Steelers a spark as well.
@Nobody-su9km2 сағат бұрын
Russ had 12Tds and 2 INTs what season were you watching last year? And he also had more yards and more passing TDs, JFs has 5-1, Russ was majority of 12 on passing TDs. IDK where did you get your numbers but clearly you never looked at all and hoped no one would call out your lie.
@iankane37322 сағат бұрын
@@mb7480he's not turning the ball over literally because he's getting lucky. He actually leads the NFL I'm fumbles with 6, but the steelers have managed to fall on all but one. He also has 6 turnover worthy throws yet only 1 pick.
@ianmcclure3936Сағат бұрын
@@iankane3732 I agree, also not to mention he could have very easily had up to 2 to 3 interceptions in the past two games, if Dallas doesn't drop a couple of throws thrown their way, and that ridiculous roughing the passer call was called against the raiders after they picked off Fields... Fields is 5-4 over 6 weeks, and suddenly looks way worse than he has been. Also, glad you mentioned the fumbles because, if he continues to do that, especially come playoff time... You can kiss our dreams of winning our first playoff game in over nearly a decade goodbye. Also, at least Wilson can read defenses unlike Fields, because I can bet you if he played in the Dallas game... We win that game, just based off of his experience alone. Once again, not saying Fields has been bad or anything, he's been fine, but not having a sustainable passing game, especially later in the season won't last forever, and at least Russ will give us the best chance to win come playoff time.
