If you want to get picky it’s sound dampening material. What was done on this is what most people refer to as stage 1, first stage of sound dampening. It allows the panel to have more mass which aids in preventing panel resonance and some inbound sound.

Acoustic foam and dampening material in the roof would take this already banging system to another level! I’m surprised the stock radio doesn’t clip at full volume, well done Mitsubishi 🤙
