Honestly, the audio factor seems like it might be understated. A lot of guns are very loud and that's my primary way of locating enemies in this game vs the minimap in cod. I rarely if ever look at the minimap in this game.

the audio in this game is terrible you can hear steps that may or may not be team mates or your own or a herd of wild horses but by the time you do hear an enemy its too late as they are already killing you. and the clubhouse map is awful (just when you thought they couldnt make a worse map than dumbo and emporium) you cant tell who it is and where they are.

Yeah the audio gunfire and enemy footsteps is what I listen for, helps a lot! I try and use the minimap but the action is happening so quickly in front of me sometimes that I don’t feel like I have enough time to look at the mininap, process what’s happening, and then jump back into action lol. I take quick peeks here and there or especially after spawn but when things are popping off there ain’t enough time for me. Also I think because the dots appear and disappear so quickly it makes me use the minimap less

The minimap is so zoomed in I've completely lost the habit of looking at it. I just wish they made it zoomed out(maybe echelon size be the default). That way, it makes the minimap more viable AND be a buff for the suppressors

I never use suppressors in fps games, it's a lot easier when they know where you are so you can catch them sprinting towards you while you have the advantage in every gun fight.

No. All factions are good. Spider is op. Phantom health is op. Cleaners extra damage is op with some guns. No headshots for new faction id op. All are op in their own way which is😊 great.

First, of it's bugged it barely comes out and you get one spider bot after every 45 seconds and then another 25 sec cool down on it so u basically getting 1 every 1.25 min which will not even guarantee a kill! I've never bothered to use the mini map. I glance at it to see where my team is spawning, use my experience to judge where the enemies will be coming from then approach the high traffic areas from the sides. If an enemy is anywhere nearby I usually hear their footsteps and gunshots and act accordingly. The only difference a suppressor makes would be making it harder to hear shots, but if you are not crouching or standing still I'll know exactly where you are from the audio.

Echelon definitely seems OP, specifically when paired with Intel Suit. Having much more intel via minimap and having scan pings reminiscent of snapshot grenades while ALSO minimizing your map info from the enemies seems a bit overkill, especially if it's more than just one suit. Although I'm entirely fine with the Ghillie suit. I think it's okay to counter, but can definitely catch you off guard. I'd like to see how Echelon is affected if Intel Suit only showed enemies for the user, removing the support aspect. I feel like ONE player having that would be a bit more balanced.

It shouldn't be wallhacks for everyone on your team. Just minimap pings. The pings can be realtime but you shouldn't get wallhacks for your team. Also the invisible trait feels like it needs a 5 second cooldown buff. Its definitely useful as it is, but sometimes also feels it too weak. As a trade off however any damage you receive should disrupt your invisibility I think. It is kind of weird it doesn't do that already but there you go.

i think its ok... ive used it in 15 games, maybe the intel suit 5 times per game so a total of 75 times... and ive gotten 28 assists out it from the unlock characters challenge progress... so 1 assist per every 3 use... cuz sometimes u use it and die in a gunfight after so you dont get the full benefit anyway for teammates

They should definitely increase the mini map dot duration to 2s to give players a bigger reason/incentive to use the suppressor attachment. As of right now, not many players are concerned with using a suppressor because your dot doesn't really stay on the map for very long.

Personally, I never had an issue with the Phantom's extra HP but if they get extra, Echys need to lose some HP. Make them easier to kill so they HAVE to be stealthy instead of bunny hopping in my face like a hummingbird with ADHD. 😂

I am always looking at the mini map in cod but I feel like I hardly look at it in Xdefiant. I couldn't figure out why it didn't seem helpful in XD but now I think its because the dots don't last long and they are hard to see. I hope they make the mini map more useful.

I rarely look at the map. The audio for gunfire is good enough that i never feel the need to. Plus the maps have so many lines of sight that if you're anywhere even remotely near them you'll probably see the tracers. Combine that with your teammates death and you get the idea where they are.

To be honest I don’t use the mini map a whole lot because of how zoomed in it is and how fast dots disappear and how fast the game play is. I’m basically fallen out of habit of glancing at it every couple seconds.

Same, i use it mostly to double check where my teammates are at to try and predict where enemies might be because as you said, its not the best minimap and not very useful. That being said im a big fan of competitive Halo and theres no minimap in that so i kinda like that the minimap is weak. Also i was never a fan of how reliant everyone became with minimap on cod games. I remember playing ops2-3 a ton and becoming stupidly reliant on the minimap.

Thought recon and light were additive, thanks for the clarification that they are not. I love how the light suppressor looks and sounds on that basis alone I will use it, the guns are easy to adjust durning match anyway if an extra stat bump in handling or mobility is needed against particularly talented players.

imma be honest the fact it only lasts 1 second on the minimap is just weird. that is way more punishing to casuals than call of duty? i feel like 3 seconds is a sweetspot because it gives more time for anyone to look up at that map and see "oh! there's a dot! i should investigate that."

Nah, games become kind of dumb when you can just look up at the minimap and know where everyone is. It's a better game if you can keep your focus on what's actually happening with sound, map design, spawns etc.

Not to be overly critical, because I love your stuff, AND it is incredible you have found all this out with out being able to do some prober testing with private matched and so on. But the simulation of how long your dot will stay up on minimap with light supressor. I feel it is needed to point out, this is if you only fire one shot, and no one fires only one shot with like a P90. The time you show is how long it will last after you ended your spray :) I only use light supressor/recon when it is the only thing that is unlocked to use :) Didn't know about the larger minimap on echelon.

I played since the open beta, and even in the full game I find the Mini Map absolutely impossible to read. The dots are way too faint, and I find the opacity weird. As a result: I pretty much don’t use the radar. I’d love for them to increase the background opacity and the size of the dots.

Regardless of what this video says, when you're constantly getting killed every time you fire your gun due to people hearing you shooting, the suppression is very useful. If you have the extra slot that light suppressor is nice to stop that instant death from the side whenever you kill someone

I mainly use the suppressors for recoil management. Start with the first and work my way till i get muzzle booster but still leave the first barrel on and finish off with the final suppressor as i see the most recoil management from it. If the 2 stealth barrels are basically the same as suppressors, i may need to rework my classes a bit and have the muzzle booster and stealth barrel instead of the final suppressor and rapid fire barrel.

I've always thought from the beginning back in the betas that Echelon is by far the best faction fundamentally because it breaks the reason for having a Mini-map in the game. Echelon is so common that when I'm playing XDefiant, I rarely ever look at the minimap anymore because there's simply no need to. I'm not losing my muscle memory for it though; while I still play CoD, I'm ALWAYS staring at it, and on occasion I'll look up in XDefiant to see it as well. I didn't even know that they had an EXTRA passive bonus of a larger minimap, and that's just another reason why I feel the need for them to be reigned in. Making the minimap size for Echelon currently into the default for all factions I think would be great (as I feel its also a little too small still? maybe just me) and completely reworking both their passive for Minimap Immunity as well as the Intel Suit, I feel, are necessary at this point. The Intel Suit on its own providing Wall Hacks to both the player and nearby teammates in a ~15-20m radius is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not sure if many know that those Wall Hack Pings also ping enemies on the Minimap, but why look at the map when you get a real-time highlight of the enemies through walls? But again, that goes back to the Echelon Minimap Immunity: they can get Walled but not pinged, so again, what's the point of the Minimap? I've been playing CoD for years, and yes I understand there are many more functions and reasons to a Minimap in an arcade shooter; I just think its a little ridiculous having a faction that fundamentally breaks a core game feature by making it near useless, and that extra Minimap Zoom is icing on the cake that I did not know was there! I don't know if it is just me but it seems to make my recoil much more friendly to manage and easier to hit follow up shots on certain guns. like on my m16 setup i use the full suppressor and recon barrel, and it seems like one burst hits all 3 headshots more consistently. This may be all in my head i will grant that. But it took my play with it way up.

Does anyone else find the directionality of the audio nearly impossible? I know its not my headphones, their imaging is normally fantastic. Yet in this game, I find it pretty much useless to tell the direction or distance, footsteps in particular, are at.

some of my best flanks have been with a suppressor. Mainly because peoples dont hear me behind them. Sucks you cant test that right now. Some of my most successful games have been Echelon cloak with M4 suppressor. I really think the sound profiles are good enough to use the suppressor as a flank gun.

Totally worth the attachment slot if you aren't playing Echelon and want to flank/play steathly. Most times the Light Suppressor works fine, but if you're using a weapon for close range engagements, than Standard Suppressor is better IMO. I don't see the benefit of the Stealth barrel as it also reduces your TTK and mobility.

Nothing is banned in Ranked for Season 1. That being said, pretty much everyone who is actually min-maxing and trying their ass off in Ranked is using Phantoms with the ACR or MP7. Just look up "Best XDEFIANT ACR" or "Best XDEFIANT MP7" videos and you'll find what you're looking for.

Honestly I just think the way the minimap is done is just bad. Its too small, the clarity on it is just too low. The dots are too small, not bright enough to even really try to see. Not to mention the whole just instantly disappears thing. Personally it needs some clarity improvements really. Because I almost never use it. Thank God the sound design and general footsteps are like SSS+ tier because that basically carries the game and overall ability to be aware of my surroundings. :/
